STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: ##### Selected to win the race. ####! Good chance of being placed. ###!! By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims. ##!!! Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. #!!!! Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted 6

RACE SUMMARY

This looks a good opportunity for fairly useful bumper performer TURBOCHARGED to make a successful start over hurdles. Point bumper winner Lunar Trix appeals as one of more interesting Rules debutants, in race where the betting should offer plenty of clues.

RACE TWO

RACE RESULT:

(Getawhisky ridden by Race preview Harry Skelton) from Weatherbys Weatherbys sponsor race three on today’s card, the Punting Feats And Bad Beats “Chasing Excellence” Mares’ Beginners’ Chase, a race over the minimum trip and in which five go to post. Four of the quintet have yet to race over fences under Rules, the exception being British debutante Folie Golith, a filly by Goliath du Berlais who arrives from France with plenty of experience under her belt. A winner over hurdles, she ran six times over fences, including latterly when runner-up in a Listed contest. A reproduction of that performance, which has earned her a BHA Rating of 137, would likely make her tough to beat, although she does need to prove that she can handle quicker ground. In receipt of a 9lb age-allowance, expect to see her make a bold bid from the front under Harry Cobden, on her first start for Faye Bramley.

Expect to see Folie Golith make a bold bid from the front Fergal O’Brien runs two, with daughter Fern aboard Siog Geal and Liam Harrison set to partner the wellbred Strong Run. The former is the highest-rated (over hurdles) of the other quartet, with her successful in a valuable handicap hurdle at Newbury in March 2025. She failed to win in four starts last term but is a former Irish WEATHERBYS RACE PREVIEW

Points winner who likes decent ground and as a result, should run well. Stable-mate Strong Run finished sixth in the corresponding race at Newbury this year and rounded off her novice hurdle campaign with success at Fontwell, where she hurdled efficiently. Coming back in trip isn’t ideal, with her being a full-sister to Grade 1 hurdler, Strong Leader. Dan Skelton’s Getawhisky finished one place in front of Strong Run at Newbury and is 3lb better off this afternoon. A bumper winner at Carlisle, the grey won on soft ground at Windsor last winter and is another who would, ideally, prefer a little more ease in the ground. She does look to have the build to take to fences, however. Lady Tadita completes the field for Jamie Snowden and Gavin Sheehan. A Huntingdon bumper winner as a three-year-old, she stayed on strongly to win at Market Rasen last autumn and was more professional, under a penalty, back at Huntingdon. Runner-up to St Irene in a Listed race at Taunton, she was tailed off behind Act Of Innocence in the Sidney Banks (again at Huntingdon) when last seen and should be suited by reverting to mares’ only company. Dropping back in trip, she is a mare with a good attitude and having recorded all three wins on good ground, should enjoy the prevailing conditions, but might need a little further in time.
