Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital
It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
Selected to win the race.
Good chance of being placed By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.
Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. Can be given little or no chance
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

She gets the nod ahead of another lightly-raced 3-y-o in Opera Wave, while Mystical Maria is taken to reverse recent Redcar placings with Princess Niyla and also take a hand in the finish.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: SAISONS D’OR trained by J O’Keeffe, Leyburn, 112 miles.
In a tight handicap with plenty of pace on, it could be worth siding with PROFITMAN who has been given a chance by the handicapper following a couple of lesser efforts and may well get back on track with Jamie Spencer taking over in the saddle. Cliffcake saves his best for the all-weather and arrives on the back of two respectable turf efforts, he’s feared most off a handy mark, while Stockpyle remains well-treated on his best form and could be worth another chance back on the all-weather

TOOTSIE is one of the least exposed runners and had been shaping well in handicaps prior to doing too much too soon back over 7f at Carlisle last time She looks capable of defying this mark back on the AW, while Coloane was unlucky to be beaten by just a head twice in AW handicaps last autumn and rates the main danger having shaped well at Ripon 10 days ago. Of the rest, Al Shabab was second on his only previous visit here and could hit the frame again if the strong forecast pace materialises
