Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy Please do not assume the worst

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances) The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

RACE SUMMARY

The vote goes to RING OF GOLD, who wasn’t seen to best effect here last time (left with too much to do) and he previously got the better of subsequent winner FollowYour Heart off a 4lb lower mark at Kempton. Abnaa looked better than ever when scoring over C&D last week and he will be a big threat under a penalty, particularly if he again gets a strong pace to aim at. RACE SUMMARY

A chance is taken on STRONG JOHNSON, who makes his debut for the Paul Midgley yard on an attractive mark and this sharp 5f could be tailor-made for him. He boasts pretty solid sprint handicap form from his time in Ireland and looks the type that his new yard will excel with. Hiya Maite has made good strides back on the all-weather this winter and is not passed over lightly, while Vespasian and last week’s C&D winner KimWexler also need considering in a competitive heat.

RACE SUMMARY

CORSINI hasn’t been with the Kevin Philippart de Foy stable for long and it might be worth taking a chance than first-time cheekpieces have a positive effect as she’s starting to look favourably treated on her best form. Drill To Dream has been running consistently of late and is on the shortlist along with Selfish Brian who had an excuse last time and had been in decent heart prior to that. 1-2-3:
