The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances)

Three-time winner on a variety of surfaces, including Tapeta, from 1m to 1m2f Another stepping up in trip, but is a half-brother to a winner at this distance and goes well for today’s jockey Not disgraced in better company latest and this looks easier (R15 W3 W1 P2) plenty of solid placed form up to 1m4f Fair third to Heritage Valentino when making and could be more competitive today, meeting that one on better open contest, with many trying this distance for the first time Heritage Valentino looks on an upward curve and, reunited with last week’s winning jockey, could step up again, though faces stiffer competition under a penalty. Dangers include proven stayer Jeewan, who comes here refreshed, and multiple winner Zayin Zyperion, up in trip Owen’s other runners, the closely related Al Mahbooba and Jaahez, are, with the addition of their riders’ claims, racing off career low marks. Jaahez would make more appeal if he hadn’t refused to load last time, so a chance is taken on the front running AL MAHBOOBA.

Has slipped down the weights since his last win over 1m2f, but has shown signs of a return to form against better opponents this term, for today’s jockey Closely related to Al Mahbooba, and though also up in trip, is a half-brother to two winners around this distance (R21 W2 P10) (OR 65)

Made all to win over 2m1f on Good (Heritage Valentino 5th), though behind Al Mahbooba and Jaahez tried at this level over shorter. Return to a stamina test a likely positive and comes here fresh from a break. (R10 W1 P4) (OR 68)
