Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
Runswick Days won The Santander In Memory of Robert Forster Handicap Steeple Chase at Sedgefield on Tuesday 11th November 2014.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

Race preview from Weatherbys It is an absolute pleasure to be sponsoring the Jodie Standings Point-To-Point Recruits Handicap Chase at Sedgefield this afternoon, a Class 4 event staged over twomiles-and-half-a-furlong with a closely matched field of four set to line up.
Although never seeming to be travelling when pulled up at Worcester in July when last seen, Neigh Botha has been given a nice break since and had previously looked incredibly progressive over fences. Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero’s nine-year-old had won three of his prior four starts in ready fashion and the Doyen gelding is just 4lbs higher than when winning by four lengths at Warwick. Having gone well fresh in the past, it would be no surprise to see him bounce back here under Jack Tudor.
Warren Greatrex’s Jet Of Dreams will shoulder top-weight under a penalty, having scored here in impressive style over course and distance last Tuesday. The eight-year-old son of Jet Away won that race for the second year running, held up and staying on really strongly at the finish off a strong gallop to score by two-and-a-half lengths. Now three from four here at Sedgefield, Richard Upton takes over in the saddle to take off a handy 10lbs and he sets a good standard in this field.
Neigh Botha looked incredibly progressive over fences. Rounding out a competitive field is Kientzheim, for Ben Haslam and J P McManus. A winner on UK debut when trained by Nicky Henderson, the Zanzibari mare joined her current yard last season and won a mares’ handicap hurdle at Musselburgh from a mark of 115 on her second start. The six-year-old will have to improve on what she has shown on three starts over fences thus far to be involved here but has now dropped back down to her winning hurdles mark and looks well-treated on that form. Kevin Brogan takes over from Harry Cobden in the saddle.
Dr Richard Newland’s Lady Kara finished runner-up to Jet Of Dreams here last week, pulling nicely clear of the third, and it was an encouraging return to form. Three times a winner over hurdles, the five-year-old mare jumped much better over her fences than previously last time and should only continue to improve with experience, as she bids for her first career chasing success. CHARACTER TESTING has finished behind Littletown Lad the last twice at this venue but he did shape quite a bit better than the result last time and from these better terms with a promising conditional rider booked, he can reverse the form now. HORSE AND JOCKEY WELFARE AT SEDGEFIELD RACECOURSE Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a highspecification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital. It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today.
