90s Gents Evening - July 26th 2025

WELCOME

Welcome everyone today for an exciting Summer Saturday of racing here at Royal Windsor Racecourse. Today is of course Gents Evening, a popular feature in the Windsor calendar for many years either as an afternoon or evening race meeting.

Much like we do for Ladies Day, we will be conducting Style Awards for the best-dressed men at the racecourse. Members of the team will be circulating round the enclosures during the evening to entice entrants – please don’t be shy as there are some amazing prizes on offer including a New & Lingwood jacket, annual membership of Royal Windsor Racecourse, a fourball at Royal Ascot Golf Club, a tour of Windsor & Eton Brewery, an Escape Room adventure and tickets to a race fixture here in 2026. Best of luck to everyone who enters!

The music is clearly a key component of Gents Evening and we are really excited to have a DJ playing all the big 90s anthems together with dancers performing on the main stage on the Paddock Lawn after the last race. Everyone who bought a ticket for today’s raceday has been entered into the draw to win 2 x hospitality tickets to see Oasis perform atWembley Stadium on Sunday 3rd August – the draw for the lucky winner will be made on the main stage just before the music starts, so make sure you are near the stage as the winner MUST be present to collect their tickets!

Special thanks to all our Race Sponsors today, in particular to one of our favourite partners, Thames Motor Group, who are sponsoring the last race on the card.Thames Motor Group are in the second year of their sponsorship of Royal Windsor Racecourse and we are enormously grateful to Rita, Abhi and all the TMG team for their on-going support.

Following on closely from today’s race meeting, we have another regular Monday Night Racing fixture coming up with a brand-new theme of Country & Western, which promises to be a hugely entertaining evening with line-dancing lessons on offer, cowboy hats for sale and then we’ll be joined by Hoedown Showdown after the racing incorporating musicians, vocalists, dancers and electrifying DJ. Definitely an evening not to be missed!

Have a wonderful evening here in the meantime

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

Selected to win the race

Good chance of being placed.

By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

Unlikely to win but not totally without hope

Can be given little or no chance.

ABBREVIATIONS

BF - Beaten Favourite

C - Course winner

D - Distance winner

CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

Lingfield maiden winner JACK LANGLEY could be worth another chance having been unsuited by Epsom last time. He may be able to make his second turf start a winning one, though Argentum has shown improvement in recent turf handicaps and has good claims returning to this course after a creditable third at Lingfield, despite again not looking entirely straightforward. Fascinating Lips remains on a career-low mark and would be of interest if market vibes are positive on his return.
