Royal Windsor Racecard - Monday 28th April

Al Basti Equiword, Dubai the UAE’s leading distributor or horse feeds and supplements proudly sponsors the Owners & Trainers facilities at Royal Windsor Racecourse

WELCOME

We are incredibly excited that the start of the Flat Season at Royal Windsor Racecourse has now arrived! The return of Jumps Racing to Windsor over the winter after a 20 year gap proved a wonderful addition to our racing calendar and we were really pleased to hear all the positive feedback about the amended course for the BerkshireWinter Million in January as well as the favourable media coverage we received for the promotional ticket offer of giving people the opportunity to see 3 days of top quality racing (in partnership with Ascot Racecourse) for only £40, an offer which we are replicating for next year’s edition.

But our attention is now firmly on the Summer Season ahead as we return toWindsor’s USP as the Home of Monday Night Racing The team have been working incredibly hard over the past few months to ensure that the track has fully recovered after the jumps meetings and we have made a few small changes within the enclosures which we feel will enhance the overall Windsor experience.

This year we have moved our premium General Admission offering (Odds-On Reserve) to the Lavender Lawn close to the Jubilee Bar in the Club Enclosure, where for a small increase customers will have an allocated table reserved for the day on the lawn right in the heart of the action. We have also introduced an initial range of Royal Windsor merchandise for attendees to purchase including branded caps, umbrellas and flip-flops, ideal for when the music nights kick in!These can all be purchased from inside The Hat Shop, located to the left of the Club Enclosure entrance.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our partners, both those who continue to support us, as well as new ones that have recently come on-board. Online sports betting company, Fitzdares, will once again be our principal sponsor, and local car dealership, Thames Motor Group, will continue to supply us with a chase car for the season along with displaying their vehicles at each of our fixtures In addition, we are delighted to announce that Al Basti Equiworld have become the new sponsor of the Owners & Trainers Pavilion – they are a company firmly engrained in the equine industry and we are excited about how this partnership might develop. Thanks to you all for your hugely important support.

Looking ahead to today’s meeting, we are delighted to be hosting a Residents Raceday for the first meeting of the Flat Season, providing as many local residents as possible with the chance to experience the thrill of a Windsor race evening at minimal cost. We are delighted to be partnering up with Thames Hospice for today’s meeting, who do incredible work in the local community in providing support in a safe and caring environment, so do please support their cause today if possible

Our fixtures come thick and fast over the coming months, and we would like to draw your attention to our two Bank Holiday Family Fun Days in May (5th & 26th) when we will be putting on a whole range of entertainment for all the family from super heroes in attendance, 300 foot inflatable obstacle courses and bouncy castles to mini land rovers and Shetland pony races, so do please join us for one or both of these days if you can. Further details of our fixtures can be found at www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk

I hope you have a wonderful day out at Windsor today and please do feel free to introduce yourselves to me should you wish, I would be delighted to meet you.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

A host in with chances but STYLE KING took a big step forward on yard/handicap debut when second at Wolverhampton earlier in the month and, with better still to come, Chris Dwyer’s charge gets the nod to go one better. His main threat may emerge from Cupola, who took a step forward last time and this switch to a handicap/ turf could unlock further progress Valsharah and Moostar can fight out minor honours
