Welcome everyone today to Royal Windsor Racecourse for our second Family Fun Day of the month! We are hugely excited about today’s fixture with 7 top quality races and sizeable fields in each race, and away from the track we have laid on a raft of free activities to keep kids, mums & dads entertained throughout the afternoon.
Alongside a number of funfair rides, including a ferris wheel, there will be bouncy castles, obstacle courses, face-painters, a glitter tattooist and a bubbleologist, which is a new word to add to my limited repertoire! And the fun doesn’t end there with Birds of Prey also coming along, the wonderful Rock Choir returning after their visits over the winter, plus some Mini Land Rovers for kids to have a go at driving, penalty shoot-outs and we are continuing our partnership with Autism in Racing who will be providing a Sensory Room, which is well worth a visit One of the highlights of the day from my perspective will undoubtedly be the running of the Shetland Pony race which will take place an hour before the 1st Race at 1.10pm.
We would like to thank our two race sponsors today, Blackmore, a local building company handling projects of all sizes, and Thorn Plant Hire, a leading supplier of non-mechanical plant to construction and utilities companies.
On Saturday night, we held our Summer Opening Party featuring Marvin Humes as the DJ, and it proved a fantastic evening to kick off our summer of music nights with the Paddock Lawn absolutely packed in front of the stage. The post-racing music continues in earnest from now right through until late August so please refer to the back page of this racecard to see all the amazing themes on offer to come down and enjoy the festivities once the racing finishes.
In the meantime, wishing you all a fun-filled Bank Holiday Monday afternoon here at Royal Windsor Racecourse.

Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital
It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk
