Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai the UAE’s leading distributor of horse feeds and supplements proudly sponsors the Owners & Trainers facilities at Royal Windsor Racecourse

WELCOME

MAY 18th 2026

Welcome everyone today to Royal Windsor Racecourse for our second Flavours of India Racenight after introducing the theme to last year’s fixture list. The weather has been rather unsettled so far this May, but thankfully the sun came out for last Monday’s Community Racenight and the near 3000 crowd were treated to some fantastic racing in glorious sunshine

Turning to today’s Flavours of India theme, we will have Bollywood dancers performing in the Paddock lawn, plus Henna artists alongside some delicious authentic Indian food options from our concessions Looking at the racing, we are extremely grateful as always to have Fitzdares sponsoring 4 races including The Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap in Race 2 for £30,000 in prize money and it is wonderful to welcome back Juddmonte who will be sponsoring the 1st Race for 2 year olds with The Juddmonte EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes for a healthy prize purse of £40,000. We are equally delighted to have Tattersalls supporting racing at Windsor in sponsoring Race 3 with The Tattersalls £40,000 EBF Maiden Fillies Stakes for 3 year olds and above Thank you to all today’s sponsors, to have an overall prize pot of nearly £150,000 across the 7 races today is a really positive story.

Looking to the week ahead, we have a busy week coming up with the first of our music nights this coming Saturday with Dance through the Decades featuring music from the 70s, 80s, 90s & 00s Ticket sales are flying out the door for this racenight, it promises to be a great evening and then two days later we are hosting the second of our Family Fun Days in May with the Bank Holiday Monday Football Mania and K-Pop raceday. There will be a vast range of FREE activities to keep all the family entertained from the funfair to the inflatable courses, facepainters, glitter tattooists, penalty shoot-outs, football darts, K-Pop entertainment on stage before the racing, and one of our annual highlights, the Shetland Pony Grand National! To make things even better, the weather forecast for the whole weekend looks hot and sunny so make sure Royal Windsor Racecourse is part of your plans for the Bank Holiday weekend!

All the best for today in the meantime, wishing you every success with your bets!

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

HORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE AT WINDSOR

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital

It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today.
