WELCOME

A warm welcome to everyone to Royal Windsor Racecourse for tonight’s Mexican Fiesta Racenight. It definitely feels like we are approaching the final furlong of the Flat season with four more fixtures remaining and those who came here on Thursday last week for the Racing League Night witnessed some fantastic, high quality racing The evening saw two course records broken, firstly over 5 furlongs in Race 1 when 10/1 shot Rockings Ends romped home and then over 6 furlongs in Race 4 when Brosay stormed home at odds of 14/1.

The team format added a very different dimension to the evening with 7 regional teams from across the UK taking part in the Racing League and the competition taking place over six weeks on successive Thursdays at ARC racecourses with Royal Windsor being the 4th leg There is a massive £2m in prize money up for grabs over the whole competition, and with two rounds to go Matt Chapman’s London & The South have built up a healthy lead following two wins at Windsor and a raft of places on the night.

Turning our attention to tonight, there will be a Mexican flavour to the racenight today with traditional tacos and nachos on offer from our concessions and Mexican dancers and singers performing during the evening. This coming Saturday sees our last music raceday of 2025 as we have Kimberley Wyatt from the Pussycat Dolls performing as a DJ on the main stage for what promises to be another fantastic night as part of our Summer Closing Party.

Looking further ahead the Jumps season kicks off here at Royal Windsor on Sunday 23rd November with our Winter Ladies Day, so please mark your diaries for an afternoon of festive fair. We are incredibly excited that New Year’s Day jumps racing is returning to Windsor after a gap of nearly 30 years, this promises to be a magical day with a racecard boasting a prize purse of £200k and we will be announcing tickets going on sale very soon.

In the meantime, thank you for attending Royal Windsor tonight and I hope you have a wonderful evening

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating
