WELCOME
Welcome everyone today to Royal Windsor Racecourse for another wonderful evening of Monday Night Racing. The summer season here at Windsor is very much in full swing and it’s been a truly memorable few weeks with over 30,000 attendees coming through the gates for our first 8 fixtures of the Flat season, which represents a 20% uplift on last year’s figures. The fantastic weather has definitely helped and long may it continue!
After the ‘craic’ of celebrating Irish Night last week, tonight’s theme is Best of British Night and we welcome singers and performers as well as hearty British food to celebrate all that is great about Britain. After tonight’s racing, there will be DJ Karin performing along with dancers on the main stage in the Paddock Lawn, so do stay around to enjoy some great music and dancing
Turning to the racing, this week is of course Royal Ascot Week when the eyes of the Flat racing world focus on our neighbours for 5 days of fantastic racing If you arrive early this evening, we will be holding a Royal Ascot Preview in the Riverbank marquee from 4.45pm with a strong panel from the Sky Sports Racing team sharing their tips for the week – entry is free to all so do please pop along From a jockey’s perspective no one is in better form heading into Royal Ascot than Oisin Murphy, who last Monday collected another 4 winners at Windsor for the second time this season and already has a remarkable 13 Windsor winners under his belt for the 2025 season.
Last Monday, we were thrilled to parade ‘The Wicked Wolf’ around the pre-parade ring ahead of the evening’s racing as the first ever Royal Windsor Racing Syndicate racehorse in conjunction with Old Gold Racing ‘Wolfie’ certainly seems to be attracting plenty of interest as over 1,000 shares have already been sold, but it’s not too late to join the party so if you want to consider becoming one of the owners of this exciting 2 year old colt for only £60, then for more details please visit https://oldgoldracing.com/horses/the-wicked-wolf
In the meantime, I hope you have a really enjoyable evening in the sunshine at the home of Monday Night Racing!

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

HORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE AT WINDSOR
Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital
It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk
