FLAT SEASON

FINALE FINAL FINA LE MON 1 4 SE PT

OFFICIAL RACEDAY PROGRAMME £3.50

Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai the UAE’s leading distributor of horse feeds and supplements proudly sponsors the Owners & Trainers facilities at Royal Windsor Racecourse

WELCOME Welcome everyone today to our Flat Season Finale, the 23rd and final raceday of our 2026 Flat Season which started at the beginning of May on the first Bank Holiday Monday with a re-arranged fixture from Brighton later that week. We have seen a continuous run of Monday Night race meetings (plus three Saturdays) ever since, which is synonymous with racing here at Royal Windsor Racecourse. Today marks the culmination of my second full season at Windsor, and 12 months on I am really pleased that I now have a much more settled, knowledgeable and experienced team in place. There is no doubt it has been a very challenging summer from a weather perspective with no rain falling on the racecourse for over two months, so I would like to express my sincere thanks once again to the whole team, and in particular the groundstaff team for a truly herculean effort all summer long in watering the track and ensuring that racing could not only continue here uninterrupted, but also managing to maintain good field sizes and safe conditions on which to race. There is every chance that extreme heat will be a sign of things to come for summers ahead, so sadly the demands are unlikely to diminish. The last two racedays have seen some fantastic racing here with the highlights being Tom Marquand winning the £60,000 Weatherbys August Stakes on board the William Haggis-trained, Tenability, and then last Monday, William Buick riding the very impressive Charlie Appleby-trained Maho Bay to victory in the £95,000 Weatherbys Winter Hill Stakes. Whilst the Flat season finishes today, the Jumps Season will soon be upon us and we are really excited by the Autumn Beer Festival race meeting here on Saturday 14th November when all beers and house wines will be priced at £5 all day, so put the date in your diary! The fixture list for 2027 has now been released and it is fantastic to have the New Year’s Day fixture once again kicking off proceedings with the Berkshire Winter Million festival moving back a week to January 22nd & 24th to complete our Jumps season. Back to today, special thanks again to Lee Beauchamp and the Matchbook team for their on-going support, along with NSI sponsoring a race and two memorial races in honour of Kim Smith and Ivor Laws. Thank you to all of you and we hope you have a wonderful day befitting of the occasion. Jimmy Wallace Executive Director

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

ABBREVIATIONS BF - Beaten Favourite C - Course winner D - Distance winner CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. 5
