Royal Windsor Racecard - Monday 12th May

Page 1

WELCOME

Welcome everyone to Royal Windsor Racecourse, and if the weather forecast is correct, then hopefully you will be basking in glorious sunshine whilst watching some fantastic racing this evening

On Bank Holiday Monday, we held our first Family Fun Day of the season and the weather was definitely not quite so favourable with showers and a chilly wind. The turnout for the day was amazing with nearly 7000 in attendance, but it did lead to a few challenges on the day. Whilst we were badly let down by one of our entertainment providers, we fully accept that we did not meet the expectations of many of the attendees and as a result we have duly extended an invitation for everyone who booked to register for free tickets to our next Family Fun Day on Bank Holiday Monday on May 26th. We are currently finalising an extensive array of entertainment to keep families and their children entertained throughout that afternoon. Looking to today’s race meeting, we are delighted that this evening sees the start of the Fitzdares Sprint Series and a special thanks to our main sponsors Fitzdares, who are sponsoring 4 races on tonight’s racecard. The Fitzdares Sprint Series is a series of races throughout the summer where 10 qualifiers will be eligible for the lucrative £75k final in August The first qualifier will be the winner of today’s 4th race, The Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap Stakes (Class 3) over 6f On the subject of talented horses, it was wonderful to see Scoville racing here last Monday, pulling away to win the Gabby Fullbrook Memorial Novice Stakes over a mile in impressive style on debut. Scoville did not make it on the track as a 2-year-old, but now as a 3-year-old, he looks like one to follow closely

With summer on the way, we have introduced an initial range of Royal Windsor Racecourse merchandise including branded caps and flip-flops, all of which can be purchased from inside The Hat Shop, located to the left of the Club Enclosure entrance. Later this month we will also be introducing tours of the racecourse on non-racedays, where guests will have the opportunity to visit the weighing room, parade ring, Owners & Trainers Pavilion and the new Fitzdares suites in the Club Stand where the Queen Mother and Winston Churchill used to enjoy watching the action on Windsor racedays More information will soon follow on our website www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk

I hope you have a very enjoyable evening at our wonderful racecourse

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

CREST OF LIGHT is building a solid record in handicaps and the way he pulled clear with the runner-up at Wolverhampton last time suggests he can defy a 5lb rise.
