WELCOME

A warm welcome to everyone to Royal Windsor Racecourse for another exciting evening of Monday Night Racing which includes tonight’s final of the Fitzdares Sprint Series This has proved a wonderful initiative from our main sponsor Fitzdares incorporating 10 rounds of races starting back in May and culminating in tonight’s final for a bumper prize purse of £75,000. On behalf of everyone at Royal Windsor Racecourse we are incredibly grateful to Fitzdares’founder, Balthazar Fabricius, and all his team for their fantastic and on-going support of our racecourse.

We have enjoyed some brilliant themed nights at Windsor in recent weeks, with particular highlights being the Rum & Reggae Night with over 5000 in attendance, our first ever Country & Western Night with nearly 100 line-dancers from a local club performing during the evening followed by Hoedown Showdown performing on the stage afterwards and then last Monday’s ABBA Racenight, which was as popular as ever with an enthusiastic crowd enjoying a singalong to so many of their classic hits. Tonight’s theme is Vegas Night, another regular at Windsor, and hopefully Elvis will have everyone rocking on the Paddock Lawn this evening after the racing! Away from our racing and themed nights, I want to mention a very impressive 19 year old called Tom Dunlop, whom I had the good fortune to meet here at the racecourse just over a week ago Tom is the son of former trainer Harry Dunlop, and is currently embarking on ‘Tom’s Big Bike Ride’, which is a marathon solo cycle ride around the UK covering over 2600 miles and visiting all 60 racecourses in the process Tom is cycling to raise funds for two very worthy causes, namely the Injured Jockeys Fund and Diverse Abilities (The Beehive, Dorset), providing assistance for adults with profound disabilities After setting off from Newton Abbot on July 27th, Royal Windsor was the 15th racecourse that Tom visited on his epic journey which will hopefully conclude at Newbury Racecourse on August 28th at their August Evening Raceday fixture. If you wish to learn more about Tom’s journey or make a donation, please visit https://lambourn.org/toms-bike-ride.

Thank you for coming along to Royal Windsor tonight and I hope you have a wonderful evening.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

KINSWOMAN holds the clear edge on form and looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to get off the mark. The lightly-raced Trafalger appeals as the one to chase her home unless James Tate’s debutante Mayfair Star proves well above average
