EVENING RACING

FRIDAY
Official Racecard - £3.50
As a leading distributor of horse feed, bedding and supplements in the greater GCC area, I am once again immensely proud to support the Jockey Club at Newmarket Racecourses for the 2023 season.
Newmarket is credited as being where thoroughbred racing first started which is why so many from every corner of the world assemble and appreciate The Rowley Mile and The July Course.
As ever, the enthusiasm of Sophie Able and her team at Newmarket translates into a top class service for Owners, Trainers, Jockeys and Stable Staff and for that we are deeply grateful.
I would like to wish all those visiting Newmarket throughout the 2023 season, the very best of luck.
Have a wonderful day at the races today.

Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

PLAY SMARTER
It’s not hard to have misgivings where GREG THE GREAT is concerned, given his yo-yo-like profile. That said, ifableto bounce back from a low-keyrecent effort and reproduce something akintothe form he showed at Newbury last month, he will have every chance in this open-looking contest. Chief’s Will didn’t do much wrong returned to turf last time and he looks a threat, while Dashing Dick and Lost In Time both make some appeal from an each-way perspective.

ISLAND STAR is thriving under the expert tutelage of Roger Varian and can bag a second success on the back of his fast-finishing Sandown third last time. This looks competitive, despite the small field The vote goes to JUMBEAU, who shaped with plenty ofencouragement on herfirst try at this trip and in a handicap on the Rowley Mile, and she is on a good mark given her exploits in listed company last season. Pastiche brings potential to this handicap debut and is feared most, albeit only marginally as the hat-trick seeking American Belle and Prepense are also appealing candidates.

MARY OF MODENA looks the safest option. The ground was testing when she scored at Windsorin May but she won on a variety ofground-types in 2022 and herrecent third on the all-weather at Lingfield was a decent effort. Next on the list is Annie Maher, who did pretty well all things considered on her first run in a handicap at Salisbury and she is now 3lb lower in the weights. Four Adaay will also be a threat if she puts her best foot forward.
