Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

The Racing League Joker Card

The Joker doubles the points won by the two horses representing the team in a given race. When played, the team receives double points in that given race, but it is not applied to individual jockey points.
Each manager will have the opportunity to play two Jokers during the 2025 competition. One Joker must be played at the team’s designated ‘home fixture’, the other Joker can be played in any of the other 42 races, where at least 12 horses are running (or 11 horses running at Wolverhampton).
The team manager will announce their intention to play a Joker in the Paddock, directly before the selected race This is done by placing a Joker card alongside the team name on the scoreboard in the Paddock.

Racing to School is a nationwide education charity working across racing to inspire young minds, improve learning and raise career aspirations through unique, interactive, and healthy outdoor activities.
As the founding charity partner of the Racing League, we hope to welcome racegoers new and old at all of this year’s fixtures – and good luck to all the teams.
The charity is only able to support young people’s education through the kind donations we receive.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: LAGOON NEBULA trained by A Kinirons, Ireland.
SYNERGISM continued his progression in handicaps this year when scoring decisively at Kempton last week and a penalty might not be enough to prevent him from adding to his tally The main danger could be fellow 3-y-o Hatysa, who remains lightly raced in handicaps and promises to be suited by this longer trip, with Captain Potter also considered.

No shortage of chances in a race that could well be fought out by the 3-y-os. A wide-open handicap and it could pay to take a chance on DOSMAN who had some strong 3-y-o form and shaped well when runner-up over C&D in June Best forgiven his recent stable debut when slowly away on soft ground, he may get back on track returned to the all-weather Intrusively was a useful juvenile and is on a dangerous mark, so he’s feared most back in a handicap, while previous C&D winner Eldrickjones has been in a rich vein of form for most of this season and should go well again.
