Horse & Jockey Welfare

at Lingfield

Park

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture

to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital

It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. SATURDAY 21 JUNE

CHARITY COLLECTION

The Trustees of the Samson Centre for MS are hugely grateful to the directors and staff at Lingfield Park racecourse for their continued support in welcoming us back for this evening’s racing.

This summer heralds the start of our 20th anniversary, celebrating the opening of our unique therapy centre. Back in 2005 we were fortunate to have already formed a strong link with Lingfield Park through our charitable racehorse syndicates and exit collections. Some of your racegoers may remember Samson Quest and Miss Bounty regularly running at the track in the charity’s colours. Over the last two decades we have been most indebted to Lingfield racegoers for donating so generously during our charity collections at the course.

Somewhat in tune with tonight’s Queen tribute concert, our anniversary celebrations get under way with the Elton John Tribute Experience at GLive in Guildford on Friday 27th June at 7:30pm. For tickets to a great night out please scan the QR code below or log onto the following link.

https://trafalgartickets.com/g-live-guildford/en-GB/event/music/ the-elton-john-tribute-experience-tickets

The Samson Centre is based in Guildford and provides essential services for people with MS throughout Surrey, Sussex and SW London in the form of physiotherapy, bespoke exercise/gym classes, para-kayaking programmes, high-dose oxygen therapy sessions, counselling and holistic treatments. Beyond the practical support provided at the centre, Samson is a hub where people with MS, their families and carers can meet, socialise and support each other.

The charity receives no funding from the NHS nor from local authorities so headline fundraising events and donations via charitable collections are crucial in enabling us to provide our dayto-day services and further improve our specialist facilities. Thank you so much for your continued generous support.
