Welcome to Hereford Racecourse for Herefordshire Raceday, kindly sponsored by DragonBet.

We hope you enjoy your day with us where there is plenty for all to enjoy, as well as Herefordshire themes we also have family entertainment rescheduled from the 23rd February raceday and you can find a timetable of today’s events on page seven of your racecard.

Thank you to our sponsors of the Jump Jockey’s Welly Wanging, Two Farmers Cider, where last year saw Harry Cobden take the title so join us at 12:40 around the parade ring to see who is victorious this year. You can find the Two Farmers stand on the Rusty Bridge lawn as well as kids clothing, toy stand, inflatables and face painting!

Our favourite herding display courtesy of Meirion Owen returns today, with displays at 1.40pm and 2.45pm, and new to Hereford this year we are delighted to welcome the Mini Landers kids driving experience, all included within the free entertainment today.

As well as our seven race card we will have live music in the Hummingbird bar courtesy of ‘My Tin Monkey’ between racing from after the 2nd race until 18:00, and the Six Nations matches will also be screened in the Hummingbird bar from 2.15pm.

We are excited to announce that our Ladies Evening on Friday 9th May will now include an ABBA tribute band after racing on the lawns for all to enjoy, plus we have launched a new hospitality package where you can enjoy an afternoon tea and bottomless prosecco from the comfort of the Parade Ring Marquee! Please visit the website to book your places.

Enjoy your day with us today, it is always a favourite day in the calendar for us as excitement builds ahead of the Cheltenham Festival next week. We will see you again on Wednesday 26th March for afternoon jumps racing.

Best wishes

Star Ratings Explained

Selected to win the race

Good chance of being placed By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

Unlikely to win but not totally without hope

Can be given little or no chance.

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating for novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED You must be 18 or over to place a bet

You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet

If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted
