For those that have already enjoyed a Day At The Races package this season I’m sure you will appreciate the value this package gives, with admission, racecard, hot pie and drink included. These packages are available for all remaining fixtures and must be purchased 7 days in advance of the raceday, but numbers are limited so would encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment.

All of our 2024 fixtures are now online and available to purchase tickets for but don’t delay as both our Snaffles restaurant and Premier Viewing are selling fast. With fixtures to look forward to including Ladies Day on Saturday 9th March, and our new Countryside Raceday which will end our season on Sunday 14th April.

ABANDONMENT POLICY

In the event of racing being abandoned, the following rules apply: • Abandonment before completion of the 1st race – badge valid for the next race meeting or full refund • Abandonment prior to completion of the 3rd race – 50% refund • Abandonment thereafter – no refund No refunds will be made on the day of racing.

All refunds should be claimed in writing within 14 days of the abandoned meeting.

Please enclose your badge/s as proof of admission and send them to: Racecourse Office, Hereford Racecourse, Roman Road, Hereford HR4 9QU. Please PRINT your name clearly and send with the returned badges.

ADMISSION BADGES

Racegoers are politely requested to ensure their badges are worn and to be clearly visible at all times.

If you have purchased an E-ticket, please ensure you have this with you at all times.

BABY CHANGING FACILITIES

Baby changing facilities can be found in the main toilet block next to the raceday office to the left of the main entrance and in the Rusty Bridge Restaurant toilets. Please ask a member of staff for details of a private breast feeding area, if required.

DISABLED VISITORS

Forward parking is available for blue badge holders, stewards will direct you. For disabled visitors requiring a carer, the carer is admitted free of change.

There is a disabled viewing area accessible through Rusty Bridge for wheelchair users, and disabled toilets on site.

DOGS

Racegoers are not permitted to bring dogs onto the racecourse at any time during the raceday, with the exception of guide dogs for the blind and hearing dogs. During hot weather, it should be remembered that Police and RSPCA officials reserve the right to force entry into any vehicle to release an animal if suffering.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Hereford Racecourse employs safety stewards. In the event of an emergency which requires evacuation a public announcement will be made and the stewards will direct you to a safe area.

The first aid room is located inside the main entrance.

HORSE AND JOCKEY WELFARE AT HEREFORD

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.

It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. Press and Commercial photographers must pre-arrange the necessary permission with the racecourse office at least 7 days before the race meeting. Amateur photographers are only permitted to take photographs in the areas normally open to the public and should not encroach upon areas specifically designated for or used by professional photographers. Professional filming and photography takes place here at Hereford Racecourse for various publications and broadcasting, and racegoers (including families) consent to being filmed, photographed and otherwise recorded by Hereford Racecourse or any third party authorised by Hereford Racecourse.

SAFETY

In the interests of public safety all visitors to the Racecourse should follow directions of the Safety Stewards on the Stands and the Raceday Staff throughout the racecourse. Please do not leave bags or your possessions unattended at any time as this could cause a security alert. The racecourse reserves the right to ask anyone clearly under the influence of alcohol to leave at any time. Racegoers are requested to be particularly aware of their personal safety in all areas where they come into close contact with the horses, such as the parade ring and the horse walks.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. for novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

Having been in good form on the Flat, GOBLET OF FIRE showed an aptitude for hurdling when fourth at Sandown in December and he can build on that effort to get off the mark in this sphere. Maasai Mara was a fairly useful performer on the level for the Gosdens and is feared most on his hurdles debut, ahead of Silverbridge.

HORSE AND JOCKEY WELFARE AT HEREFORD Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.

It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary.
