HHHHI Good chance of being placed
HHHII By no meansout of thereckoning but atleast one or twoholdstrongerclaims
HHIII Unlikelytowin butnot totallywithout hope HIIII Canbegiven little or no chance
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital
It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. Junkanoosealing victoryatGoodwood in2020.
Two of this evening’s six races are sponsored by Weatherbys, starting with race three, the Weatherbys ePassport Handicap Hurdle, a class 4eventstagedover2m1½f.
Six go to post in this 0-115 race, with the weights headed by Chicago Storm and Junkanoo. The former is 5lb higher than when winning at Stratford in March and was last seen in action on the Flat during April. Junkanoo is another whose last run came on the level and he ran well here in October, off a 5lb highermark.
Gary&JoshMoorealsorunbottomweight Lightning Maqueen, who comes back in trip slightly for this handicap debut and should now starttofindhislevel.
Lightning Maqueen is an interesting runner under a 7lb claimer.
BreadAndButtermakeshissecond appearanceforcurrentconnections (now trained by Cynthia Woods), Neil Mulholland’s Man Of The Sea has been in consistent form of late and is likely to go well again, whilst Songo has been off the track for 295days.
Half an hour later, five take their chance in the Weatherbys Racing Bank Handicap Chase, a
0-120conteststagedover3m2f.
Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden team up with the top-weight here, Onethreefivenotout. Still relatively lightly-raced,thenine-year-oldwon under similar conditions at Newton Abbot last month and should remain competitive, despite the 8lb rise.Thetrainerhashishorsesinfine form at present, with four of his six runners between 25th May and 4th Junewinning.
Joe Tizzard’s Belgarum is the other last-time-outwinnerinthefield,also successful at Newton Abbot over this trip during May. The runner-up franked that form by winning next time, so a 7lb rise seems more than fair and he is unexposed over this sort of trip. He should also go well withconditionstosuit.
Morfee ran well at Market Rasen and Cartmel but has more on his plate in facing a couple of in-form rivals, whilst Enjoy d’Allen and No No Maestro complete the field. The former wears a first time hood at the age of 11 and hasn’t shown a greatdealsincemovingtoNeilKing, anditisnowalmosttwoyearssince NoNoMaestrolastwonarace.
A winner at Uttoxeter on that occasion, he is now 9lb lower, but the race does, however, appear to be a head-to-head between OnethreefivenotoutandBelgarum.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: MERAKI MIST trained by D Horsford, Rockley, 204 miles.
A 3-time winner on the Flat for present connections, MARKET HOUSE highlighted his turn in this sphere is imminent when just touched off at Market Rasen 8 days ago and he comfortably rates the most solid option from the same mark now partnered by Sean Bowen. Justice Roll, now handicapping/ back from a break, could well emerge as the chief danger representing Gary & Josh Moore.
