Evacuation Procedures
If an incident occurs which is beyond our control, it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. As part of our Safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse. In the event of a situation, which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards. The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. Should it be necessary to evacuate the course itself, there will be two main options; firstly to return to your vehicles if safe to do so and leave via the main entrance. Secondly, should it not be safe to return to your vehicles, you will be requested to leave via emergency evacuation gates, onto the racecourse itself, where you will receive further instructions.
It may give you peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember; • Take your belongings with you. • Under the directions of the stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.
Glasses & Bottles Broken glasses and bottles are dangerous. In the interests of safety and the comfort of others please do not carry drinks or food on to the steppings of the stand, or the areas adjacent to the parade ring or unsaddling enclosure. Our catering team can transfer your drink into a plastic glass if you wish.
Horse & Jockey Welfare It is policy at this racecourse for screens to be erected in circumstances where we have any horse, or jockey in a condition whereby treatment is being administered and a degree of privacy is deemed appropriate. The use of screens does not therefore automatically infer that a fatality has occurred. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy please visit our website: www.ffoslasracecourse.com.
Photography Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes. Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the racecourse be used for publication without the permission of the racecourse executive. Flash photography is essentially dangerous where horses are involved. You are asked not to use flash photography anywhere in the parade ring area and particularly near the Winners Enclosure.
Radios & Mobile Phones The use of all types of communication equipment is strictly controlled at all racecourses. Members of the public may not use two-way radios, scanning receivers etc. for any purpose at the racecourse. Mobile telephones may not be used in or near any designated betting area, or for off-course betting purposes. Further details are available from the racecourse office.
Unauthorised Bookmaking It is a condition of entry to this Racecourse that only individuals in possession of a valid betting badge and occupying an authorised pitch are entitled to lay bets on the course of their business. Any individual found contravening these conditions will be evicted.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH HHHHI HHHII HHIII HIIII
Selected to win the race. Good chance of being placed. By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims. Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

A tricky event, with LADY SAMSON taken to build on her promising hurdles debut here down in trip. SISTER MICHAEL has been getting the hang of things over hurdles and can make a successful handicap debut. The 6-y-o still made mistakes though when opening his account at the third attempt last month, so he remains open to progress, especially if brushing up his jumping. He can get the better of the useful Flat performer Ben Lilly, with Loved Out completing the shortlist having finished third here 5 days ago.

PILGRIMS KING has been well backed for both of his starts in handicaps so far, scoring over C&D at the second attempt, and he can land the spoils again here. The 6-y-o overcame the run of the race to win readily last time, so a 6lb rise might not be enough to prevent him following up. Karannelle can give her running again and is second choice, ahead of Social City who remains lightly raced over hurdles.

MAC BE LUCKY showed much improved form when making a successful handicap debut and can follow up with further progress to come. The 5-y-o still looked green when scoring at Sedgefield, rallying well after wandering in front, so he can build on that effort with the extra distance to suit. Outback Frontiers wasn’t seen to best effect last time and is feared most, ahead of handicap-debutant Prison Break.
