“Rock

On” and welcome to The Ultimate 80’s Party Race Day!

We’re thrilled to welcome you to Town Moor today; it’s shaping up to be a fantastic day of racing with seven exciting races lined up on today’s card

“Don’t Stop Believin’” and join us after racing for live music straight from the ‘80s – expect the ultimate 80’s tunes to sing to along to and dance the evening away!

Join our raceday presenter Bobby Beavers and our resident tipster in the parade ring at around 1:27pm, where they’ll guide you through the racecard and hopefully help you pick out a few winners along the way.

We would like to take this opportunity to pass our thoughts and condolences to the family of legendary trainer Bill Turner who has sadly passed away and will be greatly missed within the racing community.

Imagine you are in the East End and come and meet Todd Carty – well known for playing the iconic role of “Mark Fowler” on Eastenders from 1990-2003. Actor and director who has grown up on our television screens, Todd also played Tucker Jenkins in Grange Hill! Todd will be meeting and mingling with guests all day.

We would like to thank our sponsors Pure Panel Management, U and I Renewable Services, Believe Money, Quality Freight Services Limited, Vixon Contracts and the family of George Prior for their very generous support of today’s fixture!

Save the Date – The Betfred St Leger Festival!

Who can forget our flagship fixture, the Betfred St Leger Festival which is now just around the corner! Running from 11th to 14th September, our four-day celebration is the highlight of Doncaster’s social calendar and home to the world’s oldest Classic race – the St Leger Stakes. Visitors from across the country join us at Town Moor for this spectacular event.

Don’t miss Gok Wan MBE bringing his signature party vibes to Betfred St Leger Ladies Day with a live DJ set after racing and Café Mambo transporting us all to Ibiza with a DJ set to rival those of the iconic sunset location on Betfred St Leger Doncaster Cup Day. We are also excited to welcome radio DJ Chris Stark on Betfred St Leger Day who will be bringing the party vibes with his DJ set.

Don’t Miss! The Leger Legends Classified Stakes on Sunday 14th September – the only British charity race for ex-professional jockeys.

Step into the heart of racing’s most historic week with the Leger Legends St Leger Preview Dinner on Wednesday 10th September —a spectacular evening of insight, indulgence, and inspiration, setting the stage for the legendary St Leger Festival

Want to mingle with the Legends? Join us on our Betfred Leger Legends Sunday Funday for our Leger Legends Lunch! An exciting day of racing and fundraising

Horse and Jockey Welfare

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface.

On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.

It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race.

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

At every race meeting at Doncaster our top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting.

Use of Screens

It is our policy to erect green screens around any horse requiring veterinary attention. This does NOT reflect the severity of any injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse.

Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse!
