Welcome to Chepstow Racecourse!

Welcome to Chepstow Racecourse

A very warm welcome to everyone joining us today at Chepstow Racecourse for our Ladies Day race meeting. It’s set to be an exciting evening of flat racing, glamour and great entertainment.

If you have dressed to impress then please visit the elegant Style Area for your chance to enter the Best Dressed Competition and win a £500 prize. This is located on the main entrance so very easy to find as you come through the gates.

There will be live music after racing courtesy of 80’s Explosion, so stick around and enjoy a tribute to some of the best music from the 80’s.

We’d like to extend a special thank you to our valued sponsors: BetWright, Explosive Productions and Geo Pollution Technologies (UK) Ltd. Your generous support is greatly appreciated and we look forward to watching your sponsored races unfold this evening.

We’re also incredibly grateful to all the owners and trainers for their continued dedication and for bringing their horses to today’s meeting. We wish you the very best of luck with your runners!

As you may have seen, we’re currently in our 99th year of operating as a racecourse, and we are now just a few months away from the start of our Centenary celebrations. Keep an eye on our social pages, website, and newsletters for announcements about how we’ll be celebrating our 100th birthday!

We have a new feature Ladies Day Marquee on the Entertainment Lawn for today’s raceday. We have some availability to upgrade to this area on the day. Please see the team at Racecourse Reception for details of how to upgrade to this area for the remainder of the day.

Upcoming Feature Event at Chepstow:

Rum & Reggae Caribbean Racenight – Friday, 25th July

Brace yourself for an unforgettable evening of flat racing, paired with vibrant live reggae entertainment and irresistible food and drink inspired by the Caribbean. Levi Roots will perform a 75-minute DJ set after the racing!

Thank you for joining us today.

We hope you have a memorable and enjoyable time with us and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS

The Chepstow Racecourse Executive would like to thank our sponsors and wish them an enjoyable and prosperous day’s racing.
