The Racing League Joker Card

The Joker doubles the points won by the two horses representing the team in a given race. When played, the team receives double points in that given race, but it is not applied to individual jockey points.

Each manager will have the opportunity to play two Jokers during the 2024 competition. One Joker must be played at the team’s designated ‘home fixture’, the other Joker can be played in any of the other 42 races, where at least 12 horses are running (or 11 horses running at Wolverhampton).

The team manager will announce their intention to play a Joker in the Paddock, directly before the selected race This is done by placing a Joker card alongside the team name on the scoreboard in the Paddock.

WEIGHTWATCHER: AUSTRIAN THEORY won off a handicap mark of 94, his rating is now down 9lb to 85. LONGEST TRAVELLER: ENOUGH ALREADY trained by A McGuinness, Ireland.

DUTCH DECOY went close in one of the season’s leading 1m handicaps last week and Charlie Johnston’s consistent gelding tops the shortlist after such a pleasing effort. Austrian Theory and Enough Already both shaped really well without getting everything fall their way last time and also make the shortlist, whilst Andrew Balding’s unexposed 3-y-o Lady Flora also has to be considered.
