The vote goes to MAYZ, who put in good late work when second off this mark at Brighton recently and the return to a stiffer track will be in her favour Eye of The Water has to be feared on the back of his solid Bath effort last time and he is second choice. Rose Fandango could have a part to play, particularly if the going is good or faster but Enzos Angel, though respected on the basis of his all-weather form, has a bit to prove back on turf.

WEIGHTWATCHER: RAVENGLASS won off a handicap mark of 67, his rating is now down 8lb to 59. LONGEST TRAVELLER: THOUGHTFUL GIFT trained by J Jones, Newmarket, 195 miles.

Though his losing run is mounting up, RAVENGLASS has found just one too good on each of his last two starts at Bath and the 5-y-o is taken to deservedly get his head back in front. Ceilidh was only sixth in the Brighton handicap won byThoughtful Gift last month but he was returning from a seven-month absence that day and, with that run under his belt, George Baker’s charge is taken to reverse those placings and emerge as the main danger

LONGEST TRAVELLER: HIATUS trained by C Allen, Newmarket, 195 miles.

Several to consider in this competitive handicap but, that said, CONNIE’S ROSE rates a pretty confident selection on the back of a recent near miss off this mark at Salisbury where she pulled clear of the third. Stepping back up to 6f will be no bad thing and the booking of Hollie Doyle adds to her appeal Next on the list is Big Bard, while Some Nightmare is third choice ahead of Hiatus and Beyond Equal

It could be worth chancing STARFIGHTER, who hasn’t scored on turf for the best part of two years but he’s able to ply his trade off a pretty attractive mark these days and the 8-y-o shaped as though his turn was near when third at Kempton on his penultimate start. Cherryhawk put in a good shift on debut for new yard at Bath recently and she is feared most If Louisiana Bay is able to back up her recent all-weather form now returned to turf she will be a threat, too.

Did you know you could celebrate a special occasion with a race named after a friend or relative – for example ‘The John and Joan 40th Wedding Anniversary Maiden Stakes’ or ‘The John Smith 30th Birthday Handicap Stakes’.

It’s a great way to enjoy a day out with brilliant memories and you can combine it with hospitality in a private suite or a meal in the restaurant. You can come down to the Parade Ring and choose the ‘Best Turned Out’ horse and also present a prize to the winning owner before enjoying a post-race glass of bubbly. The package also includes photographs of your day and a mention in the racecard and on the big screen. For more details, please email Candice Harper –charper@arenaracingcompany.co.uk

Mental Health Awareness Week

13 - 19 May 2024

MOVEMENT

Racing staff and racecourse staff are wearing green ribbons today to show their commitment to raising awareness and ending the stigma surrounding mental health issues.

The theme for Mental Health Awareness Week this year is Movement: Moving more for our mental health. Movement is important for our mental health. But so many of us struggle to move enough. Going for a walk in your neighbourhood or around your workplace, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts!

Racing Welfare is committed to providing accessible, tailored mental health and wellbeing support services to all of racing’s workforce.

We offer confidential support through Racing’s Support Line 0800 6300 443 www.racingwelfare.co.uk
