Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Welcome to the first of 19 Bath racecourse fixtures during 2025.
Today is my first race day as the Executive Director of Bath Racecourse, the team here have been incredibly supportive of my appointment and the site is looking amazing due to their hard work and dedication over the winter months.
There’s always a sense of great anticipation at the start of a new flat season, and everyone here at Bath racecourse is really looking forward to 2025 following some notable performances on and off the track last year
Tony Carroll trained the most winners to pick up our 2024 Trainer of the Year award with 11 successes from his 62 runners (the most runners at the track from any trainer during 2024) while jockey Pat Cosgrave won an incredible 53% of the races he rode in at Bath, winning 8 times including riding a four timer on the 15th June.
In total there were 144 races run at the track last year with 67 different jockeys winning races, while Kieran O’Neil and Gina Mangan were joint busiest jockeys at the course, both riding in 52 races.
Six of our seven races today are kindly sponsored by Dragonbet who continue to support Bath racecourse. As ever, we thank Dragonbet and wish them and their guests the very best of times here today. We must also wish a very Happy Birthday to regular Bath racegoer and owner Lynn Cullimore whose big day is recognised in the form of sponsoring the two-year-old contest today alongside the British EBF at 2.30pm.
It’s also great to see a Jeremy Scott trained runner at our track. It’s a rare flat turf runner for the Brompton Regis team who are more widely known for their hurdlers and chasers. In fact, Jeremy has only saddled seven turf flat runners in each of the last two years and aims to have his first Bath winner at just his 6th attempt when Fair Dinkum lines up in our opening race at 1.55pm.
Jeremy famously landed one of the biggest races on the jumps racing scene at last month’s Cheltenham Festival, winning the Unibet Champion Hurdle with the mare Golden Ace.
While Jeremy may be an infrequent visitor to Bath, it’s great to see a regular take to the turf at 3.05pm. The Grace Harris trained, and Paul and Ann de Weck owned Connie’s Rose is back to run in her 16th race at Lansdown and aims to win for the third time here, having also been placed on a further four occasions.
All of our future meetings are printed in the racecard, so we hope to see you again in the future, our next meeting is on Easter Sunday where we have a range of entertainment to suit all ages, children also go free to this fixture.
Hope you have a wonderful day at Bath racecourse today and please do feel free to introduce yourself to me during the raceday should you wish, I would be delighted to meet you.
Hannah Chree Executive Director

Should an incident occur which is beyond our control, it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced securitystaffto be located atvarious points throughout the Racecourse. This information is precautionary and we trust the procedures will not be needed.
Please remember in the event of an emergency, to take your belongings with you and, under the direction of Bath Racecourse representatives, proceed quickly and quietly to the agreed area.
Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing
surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.
It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www.bath-racecourse.co.uk.
You can find information on our forthcoming fixtures, hospitality packages, race sponsorship and nonraceday conferencing and events from the Customer Service desk next to the coffee shop. If you have any questions, then please do not hesitate to ask any member of the racecourse staff
Racegoers may take photographs for private use. However, no flash photography is allowed around the Pre-Parade Ring, Parade Ring or Winners Enclosure. Anyone with a professional/ high quality level of equipment needs to be granted permission to take photography on course in order to protect our racecourse image rights.
Please also be aware that racegoers entering Bath Racecourse do so by accepting our terms and conditions of entry, which state that their photograph may be taken and that this may be used in promotional material.
In orderto ease traffic congestion on leaving the course please would all traffic for Bath and the South West exit via the right hand lane, and traffic for Bristol and the North East exit via the left hand lane. It is hoped that these arrangements will provide a smoother exit for all patrons and your co-operation is appreciated.

Mamdoh has also been going through a good spell and could be a contender once more, with Man of The Sea one to note returned to this sphere.

This is wide open but Fergal O’Brien’s TINTINTIN came good last spring and is fancied to build on a recent eye-catching Sandown fourth and open his account for the season. Coral Cup runner-up Impose Toi heads the list of dangers, although a good case can also be made for handicap debutante Listentoyourheart and Irish challenger Western Walk. Off The Jury, Wreckless Eric, Blenkinsop and Wellington Arch also need factoring into this cracking handicap.

Third in last month’s Supreme, a race which certainly looked up to standard, ROMEO COOLIO is the standout on form and he can record a second Grade 1 success. The fly in the ointment could be the improving Tripoli Flyer who arrives on the back of a hat-trick and could be fresher than some of his rivals having bypassed the Cheltenham Festival. Fifth in the Supreme, Salvator Mundi is consistent, and he can fill the frame.

Unbeaten in 3 previous visits here (including this race 12 months ago), JONBON found a rare jumping lapse proving costly when runner-up in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham 23 days ago. Paul Townend’s decision to partner BLUE LORD ahead of last year’s runner-up James du Berlais looks significant and the 10-y-o is taken to make a belated winning handicap debut in this sphere off an attractive mark. It could be a clean sweep for the Irish, with The Goffer third on the list ahead of Amirite. Fantastic Lady could prove to be the pick of the British-trained runners, while Grandeur d’Ame and Latenightpass also make each-way appeal.

Having shaped like a sure-fire future winner when fourth in a 7f Kempton maiden late last year, TEROOMM gets the nod. The Iffraaj colt is open to improvement and this step up to a mile will surely help given the good late work he put in at Kempton. High On Hope is also likely to benefit from moving up to this trip on the back of his solid second in a 7f Southwell handicap and he is feared most ahead of Gennadius, who chased home an exciting Godolphin colt in Opera Ballo on debut at Kempton.

WEIGHTWATCHER: OUTRACE won off a handicap mark of 69, his rating is now down 8lb to 61. LONGEST TRAVELLER: THAT’S FOR SURE trained by M Keady, Newmarket, 155 miles.
A chance is taken on MONKS MEAD, who ended last year on a low-key note but his four previous visits to this track have all resulted in good efforts and he resumes from a break on an a ractive mark. Soi Dao has also performed with credit in two runs here and, having returned to form when fourth over 9.5f at Wolverhampton last time, she will be a threat, particularly if allowed her own way out in front. King of Speed also has claims, while Outrace is capable of playing a part if on-song.

The stiff finish at Sandown just seemed to find out AFADIL in the Imperial Cup and he can gain compensation for that near miss. Alnilam shaped very well in the Morebattle and ought to find 2m around here playing to his strengths so he’s second choice. Slugger, who was a couple of places behind Alnilam at Kelso, Moon Chime and Gordon Elliott handicap newcomer Grimaud also make the shortlist.
