Design new building in the historical zone of Nau Nihal Singh Haveli To create a continuity over time rather than contrast and disruption

Nau nihal singh have expressed itself as detoriating beauty of its time. It was a pity to see such a representation of the Sikh culture and the home of the Raja Nau Nihal Singh detoriating in such a way and even though it had now been transformed into a school for girls, the lack of maintenance made it a repulsive sight.

The idea was to create a cultural center and also invites guests. It would also frame history in such a way that it becomes a constant part of the journey within the building. The cultural center comprised of the programmes art studio, gallery, heritage museum and a courtyard that act as a public void that is accessible for everybody , encourages the connection within the community.

The building is designed by taking abstract reference from Nau Nihal Singh Haveli. The material used is local that is brick and concrete. The structure is designed in such a way that it frames the history and details and ornamentation of Haveli from different levels creating a direct visual connection and maintains the essence of the surroundings
