FINANCIAL READINESS PROGRAM

The Financial Readiness Program offers educational classes/ seminars/Workshops, counseling and support services to assist Soldiers, their Families and DoD Civilians with their financial plan, debt management and wealth management.

One-on-one counseling and group education on personal finance is provided for Soldiers, Family members, and civilians in support of Unit Commanders, First Sergeants, FRGs, and more.

October has two major consumer awareness observances for us to focus on the financial areas of our organized or maybe currently not so organized lives:

National Financial Planning Day Wednesday, 7 October There are 6 steps of financial planning, you can apply them to any area of personal finance: 1. Insurance planning (is your SGLI and FSGLI current with your life changes?) 2. Tax Planning (large refund or had to pay in more taxes last year, withholding may need adjusting) 3. Cash Flow (a fancy word for budget, pay yourself first and then tell your money where to go) 4. Estate Planning (what happens if you are seriously injured and cannot make decisions for yourself, who gets your stuff when you are gone with the minimum of tax headaches for the receiver, what about guardians for your kids if something happens to you) 5. Investing (where do I start and what do I avoid?), and 6. Retirement (what are all these TSP funds?) Every time you have a significant life change, a raise, a promotion, or transition visit us at Financial Readiness for resources and this month is the time to do it!

Get Smart About Credit Day 15 October Have questions about credit or can’t seem to pay down your debt and need a good plan. We have resources and plans!

First Term Soldier Budgeting Class 28 October, 0930-1130 Do you have new Soldiers to your unit whose first duty station in the Army is Camp Casey? These Soldiers are required to attend a first termer budgeting class at Army Community Service. Please call ACS to reserve space as social distancing limits the total number allowed in this class. For reservations please call the Camp Casey ACS front desk at (315) 722-1578.
