A Brief history of Mold Alexandra Football Club Mold adopted its name and blue and white kit colours in 1929. Its matches have been played at Alyn Park, Mold since that date. The club joined the Welsh Na onal League, Wrexham Area (WNL) in 1947. In an exci ng 1980's period for the Alex they won two League Championships, a League Cup and two regional trophies. These successes resulted in Mold Alex being invited to join the newly created Cymru Alliance league for season 1990-91. At that me the Cymru Alliance became the top division for north and mid Wales' compe
ve football. In 1992 a first na on-wide
league was formed {the League of Wales') with Mold Alex being one of its founder members. Mold Alex enjoyed compe
on in the League of Wales for three years, more distant opponents
including Inter Cardiff, Barry Town, Llanelli and Ebbw Vale. Mold Alex played in the Cymru Alliance un l the end of season 1997-1998 when a problem arose concerning their relega on. At the me relega on rules dictated two teams being demoted from the Cymru Alliance, but only one of these going down to the WNL. Following a decision that the other relegated club be offered football in the WNL, Moldrejected a place in a different league system and chose instead to play in a mainly WNL reserve team division This gamble played off and the Alex was promoted up to the WNL Wrexham Area Premier Division at the end of that season. Between 2002 and 2010 the club had two successful spells in the Cymru Alliance, but in 2010 an FAW change to the number of
clubs in the League of Wales also affected the size of the Cymru Alliance. A restructuring drama resulted in Mold Alex in thirteenth place losing its status as a Cymru Alliance member of sixteen clubs. In 2014 Mold was promoted once more up to the Cymru Alliance a er winning the Championship of the WNL Premier Division on a cliff hanging and thrilling final day of the season. The following season the first team won the President's Cup and North East Wales Cup. In 2019 The Alex was successful in reaching the final of the Premier Division Cup. *Mold Alex reserve teams have been very successful in recent years, winning their Division Championship Cup on three occasions and a Division Cup. A Mold Alex Reserves and Colts team won their Championship Division Cup in 2015. Children's football is provided at Mold Alex from the age of six,, supported by a large team of volunteers who undertake to gain various qualifica ons to make this possible. Several match trophies have been won by the older football groups. The club's volunteers host the annual Mold bonfire and firework display for chari es, In the summer annual six a side veteran men's and women's compe
ons have also supported good causes as has the club's annual Christmas Ap-
peal. With the return of football and restructuring of the Wales' football system from 2021, the Alex reserve team has competed well amongst teams represen ng high ranking clubs. Supported by the Alex strong management and coaching team and against very compe
ve opposi on this
season, the Alex first team has con nued to compete closely for the Championship of the Lock
Stock Ardal North West League.

In 1879, Caersws played fixtures against Newtown, Druids and Llanidloes, amongst others. There are also records of matches between Caersws Red Rose and Newtown Blue Stars on the 24th December 1877 and on Boxing Day, Caersws Bri sh played Newtown Blue Stars second XI. However, it was not un l the late-1950s that the exploits of the Bluebirds began to match and indeed surpass those of their Mid Wales neighbours. Since then, the club has reached the final of eight all-Wales compe ons including winning the Welsh Amateur Cup against Buckley Wanderers in 1961 and the Welsh Intermediate Cup against Aberystwyth Town in 1989. The honours list also includes nine Welsh Na onal League (MidWales sec on) Championships, eight runners up and six League Cup wins. The Montgomeryshire Challenge Cup has been won 29 mes. In the two seasons prior to the forma on of the League of Wales, Caersws played in the Cymru Alliance, being runners up in 1991 and champions in 1992. In the inaugural season of the League of Wales, the club reached the final of the League Cup and finished in 11th place. The Bluebirds were the losers in the first League Cup final but won it in 2002, 2003 and 2007.
Having finished fourth in 2002, the club qualified for the European Intertoto Cup and were drawn against PFC Marek of Dupnitsa (Bulgaria) in the first round. The Bulgarian full mers won the first leg 2-0 with two late goals but Caersws earned a creditable 1-1 draw in the home leg, played at Aberystwyth. In 2007, the clubs long serving manager Mickey Evans called it a day a er 24 highly successful seasons. Caersws flirted with relega on in the following seasons and at the end of the 2009/10 season, the club were relegated to the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance following Welsh Premier League restructure. In the following seasons in the Cymru Alliance, the club reached the final of the League Cup on three occasions, finally winning it in the 2014/15 season, they were relegated to the Mid-Wales Football League Division 1 in 2017/18 where they played un l the FAW pyramid review in 2020 when they became member of the Ardal Northern leagues
