CO-CHAIR LUC WILSON Director of Urban Interface | KPF A Director at KPF, Luc leads KPF Urban Interface, an internal think tank furthering urban planning and architectural design through computational research and a suite of proprietary analytical tools. Luc’s approach optimizes performance metrics within a human-centric framework of how cities, neighborhoods, and buildings are used from day to day by the people they serve. Luc is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia GSAPP teaching courses focused on performance-based design and urban data analytics. He is a member of the Urban Design Forum and on the planning committee for the Municipal Arts Society. SARAH WILLIAMS

Keynote Sarah Williams is an Associate Professor of Technology and Urban Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where she is also Director of the Civic Data Design Lab and the Leventhal Center for Advanced Urbanism. Williams combines her training in computation and design to create communication strategies that expose urban policy issues to broad audiences and create civic change. Williams is co-founder and developer of Envelope.city, a web-based software product that allows users to visualize and modify zoning in New York City.

As Director of Interactive Visualization, Chernick leads research and development for AR/VR and adjacent emerging technology at SHoP Architects. Previously Chernick led BIM strategy and coordination on several large projects including the GroupM Global Headquarters, in World Trade Center 3. His years on the design technology and documentation side of AEC has given him a unique perspective to focus efforts within AR/VR and software development. He has designed, built and launched apps for both iOS and Android, and is a frequent speaker on the implications of AR/VR in AEC. His applications with SHoP Architects have been nominated for awards, featured in museums, and written about in publications including the New York Times.

Managing Director | Placetailor Colin is the Managing Director at Placetailor, a Boston-based, integrated development/ design/ build/ R&D cooperative. He has over 20 years of experience in all scales of design and planning, driving innovative and sustainable strategies within complex, collaborative projects. Colin’s previous positions included Associate Architect and Head of Sustainability at Sasaki, and President of the Sasaki Foundation. Colin has taught and lectured at all Boston area design schools, as well as Zhuhai and Guangzhou, China

Director, Environmental Systems Lab | Cornell University Timur Dogan is an assistant professor in the Department of Architecture and the Director of the Environmental Systems Lab Opens at Cornell. Dogan holds a Ph.D. from MIT, a Master of Design Studies from Harvard GSD, and a Dipl. Ing. in architecture with distinction from the Technical University Darmstadt, where he was a fellow of the German National Academic Foundation. His research expertise is in daylighting, energy modeling, passive climate control strategies, and performance-driven design workflows in

both urban and architectural scale. To date, he has authored and coauthored several widely used software tools, journal papers, and peerreviewed scientific articles.

KATHERINE FAULKNER, FAIA Director | PT-TECH Katie Faulkner is a director at PTTech, a division of Placetailor, and the founder of WestFaulkner, an office with a mission for environmentally considered design. She has been engaged for 25 years with spaces and buildings for education, working, living, and healthcare. Previously she was a Vice President of Design for Katerra, focusing on mid-rise mass timber housing. For nearly a decade prior, she was a founding partner of the firm NADAAA. She has been recognized with notable awards, including the 2014 Holcim Award and 2018 AIA COTE Award. In 2017 she received the Women in Design Award from the Boston Society of Architects. In 2020 she was named to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows. JOHN HAYMAKER Director of Research | Perkins + Will As Perkins&Will’s Director of Research, John helps to bridge research and academics with the global firm’s practice by collaborating with architects, urban designers, and planners—putting him at the forefront of emerging knowledge and technology in the AEC industry. Newman has served as Executive Director of the Municipal Art Society of New York and as Chief of Staff at the New York City Department of Transportation under Mayor Bloomberg and Commissioner Sadik-Khan. Margaret received a Master of Architecture from Princeton University, is a certified LEED AP, BD+C professional and a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
