If I Could Give You the Moon

If I could give you the moon Lace it into your veins Would it heal all your scars? Return you to this place? If I bathed you in starlight Brought yūgen to the earth Poured it into your eyes Would it heal your hurt?

If I gathered the planets That your eyes are fixed on

And collected them, tender-Held them tight in my palm

And I offered my hand Sent a lifeline-- Return Would you come back to earth Leave your astral sojourn? If I stole you the Cosmos Let them burn in our hearth If I offered you All From my desperate heart And if I gave you my life In exchange for your breath Would you please come back home? Would you leave behind death?
