Complete your application on your candidate page Once step one is complete, we will prompt you to create a username and password for the candidate page on the Archmere Parent Portal webpage. From that page, you can complete your application and required checklist items. You must be logged in to view and access these forms. In order to be considered for admission, all application materials must be submitted by January 5. There is a nonrefundable application fee of $60.

Admission Criteria Admission is competitive and based on a combination of the student’s middle school record, teacher recommendations, performance on the entrance exam, and the personal interview.

Take the entrance/scholarship exam The entrance/scholarship exam for 8th graders is October 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. or October 18, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with a make-up test scheduled on October 21, 2026, at 7:30 a.m. Preregistration is required, along with a $55 registration fee. The registration form can be found on your candidate page upon completion of your application. Results will be released approximately two weeks after the exam.

Schedule an interview with the admissions office Students and their families who have completed all application materials and have taken the entrance exam will be invited to interview with a member of the Admissions Committee. A suggested time frame and sign-up link for the interview will accompany the entrance exam results.

Award-Winning Arts Art & Design

Archmere Academy’s nationally recognized Art & Design program focuses on creative investigation.

Students learn through intensive handson studio experience in the Manor, our Fine Arts Awards awarded for 2026 Delaware 5,000 square-foot building that houses a fully equipped ceramics studio, a Regional Scholastic Art & Mac lab equipped with Adobe Creative Suite, an Ankermake M5 3D printer Writing Awards and power tools for rapid prototyping, industry-grade large format printer, and three dedicated painting and drawing studios. Students concentrating their elective courses in the Art & Design program will develop a portfolio that demonstrates critical thinking, artistic development, and an authentic understanding of the elements and principles of art and design.

in the Cappie Awards for the 2026 Winter Musical The Drowsy Chaperone

Every year, the Archmere Academy theater program produces a fall drama and a winter musical. The Archmere Drama Club sponsors activities such as Broadway open mic nights, trips to New York to see Broadway shows, and participation in the Greater Philadelphia Cappies program. The Drama Club also participates in regional theater festivals, including competitions at Bucks County Playhouse and West Chester University.

Instrumental Performance

Archmere’s instrumental music program comprises two main performance groups: Concert Band and Stage Band, as well as a variety of non-performing Students Traveled courses. Our signature instrumental curriculum incorporates jazz, funk, rock, to New Orleans blues, and swing, in addition to standard performing in private instrumental repertoire.

Students concerts involved in the instrumental music program may audition for Archmere’s Stage Band, which has performed at various festivals and competitions including Puerto Rico, San Francisco’s Pier 39, Carnaval de Quebec, Seattle, Disney World, and most recently, New Orleans.

Concert Choir covers music from the Renaissance through the Contemporary period with emphasis on the development of choral tone, proper vocal production, rehearsal techniques, musicianship, and some music history.

The Concert Choir performs both a cappella and accompanied works, occasionally incorporating students from the instrumental groups.

The Mastersingers of Archmere Academy is comprised of thirty outstanding singers selected through auditions in September from the members of the Concert Choir. They have performed extensively throughout the state of Delaware, having performed numerous times for the governor and other state officials. Throughout its history, the Mastersingers has performed for Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, as well as at Citizens Bank Park and Carnegie Hall. Additionally, they have performed in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Seattle, Toronto, San Francisco, Orlando, and on tour in Italy through Naples and Rome.

Helena Raskob Arts Institute

Regional, National, and International Awards

The Helena Raskob Arts Institute, located in the Patio, offers individual music lessons to Archmere students.

Students can take private lessons in piano, voice, and organ. For students with a specific interest in other instrumental lessons, the Institute Director will work to identify a music teacher to help accomplish their goals.

The Institute’s programs include chamber music, enabling orchestra students to have an on-campus opportunity to develop chamber music skills. Students already taking lessons in strings, woodwinds, and brass instruments will receive coaching for various chamber ensembles and be offered performance opportunities at Archmere.

Each December, alumni Mastersingers are invited back on campus to perform in the Coming Home for Christmas concert.

Excelling on the Field Our dedicated athletic staff view coaching as a professional commitment and the Archmere athletic experience as an extension of classroom learning. With two Sprinturf fields, a sports complex that includes two gymnasiums and a fieldhouse, baseball, softball, and soccer fields, and a recently renovated fitness center, Archmere’s athletic facilities are on an elite level among secondary schools in the area.

The athletic programs at Archmere help shape each student’s character — the teamwork, collaboration, humility, and discipline that students experience foster growth of character and empathetic leadership on and off the field. Our individual athletic programs embody Archmere’s core values and the belief that a community of respect, zeal, reverence, and wisdom helps make the world a better place.

Ministry & Service to the Community Students and families of all faith traditions are welcome at Archmere Academy. As a community of faith, Archmere is one of only two Norbertine high schools in the United States. To celebrate its Catholic heritage and the Norbertine charism, Archmere is united by the importance placed on community, respect, zeal, reverence, and wisdom. While campus ministry programs are ecumenical in mission and scope, all students are welcome to join the activities and services Archmere offers. Students demonstrate leadership and creativity while expressing, deepening, and reflecting on their faith.

Liturgical Offerings Through campus ministry, students have the opportunity to participate in monthly liturgies in significant roles, such as Eucharistic Ministers, lectors, altar servers, or musicians. While our liturgies are conducted according to the Roman Catholic tradition, students of all faiths are encouraged and welcome to participate in any way possible during our community celebrations.

Students can take time to reflect on the Gospel during Kenosis, which occurs in the Oratory at the beginning of each lunch period with daily Mass following. In addition, Confession and Adoration are available on a weekly basis.

Retreats Each class will participate yearly in a day-long retreat to foster community and grow closer to their faith and one another as they continue their Archmere journey. In addition, Kairos, one of the most involved and enriching of all the campus ministry opportunities, is a popular and optional intensive four-day retreat where Archmere juniors and seniors can grow in their relationship with God, self, and others.

Community Service Empathetic leadership is a key component of Archmere Academy’s mission.

Archmere operates a variety of outreach programs including the studentrun Community Service Club, which plans food drives throughout the school year to support local food banks. There are also opportunities for service within the Archmere community through our annual blood drive and tag days that raise funds for various local charities and organizations.

Global Studies Archmere Academy’s Global Studies Program prepares lifelong learners for every good work by building cultural competence and by fostering personal growth and professional success through travel and study. This multidisciplinary academic program provides cross-cultural, experiential learning opportunities that cultivate empathetic leadership, effective communication, and a global mindset. Students who meet program requirements will earn a Global Studies Certificate, and those who also participate in one of Archmere’s international travel opportunities will earn the Global Studies Diploma.

Experiential Learning Advanced Cancer Research & Analysis For students interested in scientific research and data analysis as it pertains to the medical field, Advanced Cancer Research & Analysis consists of three parts: a data analysis semester, a biotechnology and cancer biology semester, and the opportunity to intern with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). In the first semester, students will learn how to analyze data collected from cancer patients, via the Data Driven Discovery in Biomedicine (D3b) datasets, in order to evaluate treatments and disease progression. In the second semester, students will learn about the purpose of the D3b program at CHOP by studying cancer, its causes, and treatments as well as learning about current biotechnology and its application in the process of diagnosing and treating cancer patients.

The course includes keynote speakers from CHOP and visits to relevant sections of the D3b program.

Each semester will culminate in a poster project to be presented at an in-house conference. Over the summer, several students will have the opportunity to intern with the D3b program, including shadowing in the hospital setting and research labs, and working on a specific data analysis project.

Advanced Engineering & Design Practicum Engineering is not simply a science, but rather a way of looking at the world. Advanced Engineering & Design Practicum is a college-level course that immerses students in the analytical mindset and problem-solving approach essential to engineering.

Through classroom instruction, students explore key engineering concepts, including material selection, statics and dynamics of rigid systems and fluids, heat transfer, and engine mechanics. Additionally, they gain hands-on experience with computer-aided design.

A core component of the course is project-based learning, where students collaborate in teams to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

In the second semester, students engage with practicing engineers to tackle real-world challenges and expand their professional networks. This course provides both a strong academic foundation and practical exposure to the engineering profession.

An Atmosphere of Growth Student Learning & Resource Center • Available to all students • Resource for families and faculty • 1:1 sessions with a Learning Specialist Archmere Academy’s Office of School Counseling and the Student Learning & Resource Center (SLRC) work in tandem to help students thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. Students can increase their skills in problem-solving, decision-making, emotional management, executive functioning, and academic skills through individual and group counseling and/or academic support sessions, classroom presentations, health coursework, and schoolwide assemblies.

The support team at Archmere provides student-focused and datadriven programming that nurtures students’ overall well-being.

The school counseling office offers social/emotional learning programming through The NEST (Nurturing Every Student to Thrive). The NEST intentionally encompasses and utilizes the entire Archmere community to best position students for success beyond the classroom. The solid foundation students create at Archmere allows them to successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, productive citizens who respect themselves and others. Becoming solution-oriented, understanding what they need to succeed, and learning coping and communication techniques prepares students to live a life of principle and purpose as they transition into higher education and the professional world.

The Learning Specialist in the SLRC coordinates academic accommodations for students who have documented learning differences and offers support for all students with the goal of empowering them as learners and thinkers.

Summer Enrichment Summer Enrichment is a two-week, optional, complementary program that helps to acclimate incoming 9th-grade students to the Archmere experience. Students come to campus for a shortened day and take classes in four subjects: English, Math, Science, and Organizational Skills. These classes are taught by Archmere faculty and allow students to familiarize themselves with Archmere’s campus, computer systems, and faculty/staff, as well as forge some social connections with peers.

Your Future Starts Here Foundation for Success Archmere’s Office of College Counseling is available to all students and their families year-round to counsel students from their ninth-grade year through graduation. The college counselors are leaders and educators within the admissions profession at the state, regional, and national levels. The College Counseling program aims to promote student growth and assist students in finding the colleges with the best academic, extracurricular, and social fit for them.

To maximize success for students and families and to increase understanding of the college admissions process, Archmere’s college counselors examine and share how colleges make strategic admissions decisions. Students have continuous discussions with College Counseling including personalized sessions. Counselors meet with students to assist with the application process and to help them make the best college decision to meet their goals.

The College Counseling department offers career-focused programming for students each year. Working closely with a talented pool of professionals from various industries through the Archmere Alumni Association, the College Counseling department schedules junior class Career Day, Young Alumni Career Panel, field-specific evening programs, discipline-specific annual college visits, and more. This programming not only provides students with realworld context but creates networking opportunities to help them in their Archmere career and beyond.

The Archmere Experience Archmere’s Campus Archmere Academy closely resembles a college campus—with dedicated buildings for science, fine arts, academics, and athletics.

Surrounded by these buildings is a large, open “quad” with comfortable Adirondack chairs students can use for independent work and for relaxing. St. Norbert Hall houses most academic departments and features the Technology Center, Learning Commons, and private study rooms for collaborative and focused work. Attached to St. Norbert Hall is the newly dedicated Rocco A. and Mary Abessinio Performing Arts Center, a reimagined design of our existing theater space reopened in March of 2025.

Students can find the Main Office, cafeteria, and the Counseling Suite in The McLaughlin-Mullen Student Life Center. The two oldest buildings on campus, the Patio and the Manor, have served many purposes since 1932. Today, students attend fine arts classes in the Manor. The Patio houses most of the administration, the Helena Raskob Arts Institute, and is reserved for special events, such as concerts, Senior and Junior Proms, and other social gatherings.

A Balanced Schedule With unscheduled periods built into their day, students have the autonomy and independence to manage their own time. Students may choose from a range of possibilities for their unscheduled periods—including attending Mass in the Oratory, meeting with teachers, working on a painting or sculpture in the Manor, or enjoying the beautiful labyrinth and meditation gardens.

Our unique college-style campus setting and schedule encourage and allow students to responsibly manage their calendars, homework, projects, and commitments to activities beyond academics, fostering the independence they will need in college.

Conveniently Located Whether you are in the Pennsylvania Main Line, just over the bridge in New Jersey, near Elkton, Maryland, or Smyrna, Delaware—Archmere is within your reach. Archmere is in Claymont, Delaware, just north of Wilmington and about 30 minutes south of Philadelphia. Close to the borders of neighboring states, Archmere is easily accessible to families living in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland. School district buses and Archmere’s shuttle service make us closer than you think!

School District Busing PA school districts in Chester and Delaware counties within 10 miles of Archmere provide free bus transportation to Archmere students living in Chester, Upland, Chichester, Garnet Valley, Penn Delco, Wallingford, Swarthmore, Ridley, Rose Tree, Media, Unionville, Chadds Ford, and West Chester. On regular school days, most buses leave campus by 4:50 p.m. to accommodate student involvement in activities and after-school functions.

SEPTA’s Claymont Station is positioned close to campus with DART bus transportation available.

Archmere Academy Shuttle The Archmere shuttle service routes in Delaware cover the Greenville/ Hockessin/Newark and the Bear/Middletown/Smyrna areas. Another shuttle service runs to New Jersey, serving the Mullica Hill area.

Archmere also runs a shuttle via the Blue Route, serving students from Newtown Square, Havertown, and Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.

The annual fee ranges from $2,200 to $4,400 based on your roundtrip route. One-way options are also available.

Affording Archmere Tuition Tuition for the 2026-2027 academic year is $36,950. Fees included in tuition are library, athletic, yearbook, and all regular school fees.

In addition, there is a $550 technology fee for Archmere’s one-toone Mac laptop program.

Books and Uniforms Estimates for new books range from $200 to $300, depending on a student’s academic schedule. Uniforms range in price from $150 to $250. The AUK Attic, run by The Mothers’ Guild, offers discounted prices for used books and uniforms. Pennsylvania families receive free books through the Pennsylvania Book Program.

Scholarships and Grants

Scholarships and grants are awarded based on superior academic performance and financial need for the duration of a student’s time at Archmere Academy. Students with superior performance on the entrance examination and a strong academic record may qualify for an annual scholarship.

Any additional financial awards are need-based grants. Families must submit a financial aid application and their latest IRS 1040 form to Clarity by mid-January (or before the admission interview) to help determine the value of the grant. Grants do not generally exceed one-half of tuition.

Our Financial Aid Committee seeks to make the Archmere experience possible for the greatest number of families. Archmere aims to enroll a diverse and well-rounded student population made up of a wide variety of students and families who will help foster a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive culture.
