1 - The Mythical Hotel

Year 3, Semester 2

For my CDP project, the brief was to create a ‘mythical’ hotel design within the existing building The National Westminster Bank, located on 22 Castle Street, Liverpool.

My concept for this project consisted of a hotel split into three separate buildings, The NatWest Bank, The Old Bank of England and Martin’s Bank, all accessed through a private transport system within an underground network of tunnels. Each building is designed to have distinctive atmospheres and purposes, the first building containing the main transport system and spa, the second fitness and leisure, and the third business facilities.

The trainline is a key feature to this specific hotel building, being the system where the guests can move from one building to another within an underground self-contained world, giving individuals the chance to experience Liverpool from a new layer beneath the surface. An electronically powered old steam train flows through the basement space, and through the main double height arched spa area allowing individuals to gain a glimpse of the most important areas in the hotel.

By focusing on the various themes within each of the three buildings and providing the private train system, my hotel will offer a unique and exclusive experience that differs from other hotels within the area.

2 - Digital Webform

Year 3, Semester 1

Digital webform is a web-based company who required a space where their business could acquire an office working environment along with a public space to allow the community to enter the premises to see the different products that Digital Webform produces. The location of the existing building used for this project was the former Old Bank of England, Castle Street, Liverpool.

My interior design for the project consisted of a salon/bar experience, restaurant and a garden space on the Ground Floor, along with functional office spaces within the upper floors of the building.

3 - Venue

Year 2, Semester 2

The ‘venue’ consisted of a proposal to create a new space within an existing building which could host a range of events such as live music, comedy, cabaret as well as accommodating formal and informal dining. The site for this location was The New Zealand House, Water Street, in Liverpool. The venue is situated in an ideal location within the city, being a road off Church Street, a quick walk to the Pier Head, and close to the city centre.

My proposal for this project was to create an Art Deco/Speakeasy inspired restaurant accompanied with cabaret live performances during evening dining. Along with this, the space is also designed to counter as a multi-functional hireable place. With a double height space available, a ground floor along with a constructed mezzanine allowed me to increase the amount of furnishings, fitting around 300 customers per night. The spaces consisted of a restaurant/bar, a performance space, private hire area and outdoor courtyard seating.
