The basic emotional value underlying the design is ‘awardness,’ as we observed a noticeable asymmetry between ourselves and the villagers when we documented the village. We realized the need for a central meeting place that fosters social interactions and economic growth, based on the village’s specific needs. To enable economic development, the site’s terrain is used to divide it into two distinct areas: one for residential use and another for commercial purposes. The residential area is designed to encircle the central courtyard, which serves as a vital space for social gatherings. On the other hand, the commercial area is located at the peak of the slope, offering distinct platforms for various activities such as pottery making and papad drying. Certain vending spaces have been proposed which can assist in boosting the economy of the villagers. The planning and design of the building is highly influenced by the old vernacular architecture that existed in the locality. To ensure that the building blends in with the surroundings, the design uses local materials and follows the planning principles that were used in the area. Using such materials and principles also helps users to feel familiar with the building.
