Grid iron system: In this type of distribution the pipes are laid in a rectangular pattern, in this system we find a main pipe, sub pipe and branch pipes same as in Dead end system the difference is that all the pipes are connected with each other but in Dead end the pipes end at a certain point. In this system we can see that the flow of water is smooth as compared to Dead end system, for a planned city/town this system is suitable just like Chandigarh.

Ring system: In this type of distribution the main pipe is surrounded in the outer layer or part of the city/town, the branch pipe is directly connected to main pipe, and the whole pipes system is interconnected with each other. This type is system is also called circular systems as all the pipes is interconnected with each other. This kind of water supply distribution is suitable where the roads are well planned overall a wellplanned city or town.
