Deceasedwasanative'of Ballyheigue,Co.Kerry,Ireland,bornofahighlycul- turedandliteraryfamily, MotherIgnatiuspossessed mostofthequalificationsof herancestors-immediate andremote.
TheStrocchios(theorigi-nalnameofStritch)migratedfromItalyinthe 10thcenturyintimesof persecution,andsettledin thethen-peacefullandof Ireland,wheretheywere latertoenduregreatersufferingsfortheFaith,and havetothecreditofthe familyatleastonemartyr. withThestrikingpersonality whichshewasendowed,radiatedinfluenceonall whocameincontactwith her.

ButtheParents'Federationhasspeficicallyworked toobtainrecognitionandsympathyforourschools.In itsownmodestwayitsecuredin1954unopposedlegislationwhichgaveatleastrecognitionofourschoolsas qualifyingforhelp.
TheenablingBillswerevirtuallyunopposedandthe Governmentwhicheffectedthemdidnotsufferatthe subsequentelection.
Ahandicaponfurtherworkinthisdirectionisthat beyondacertainpointreliefforschoolsandparents canonlybegivenonanAustralia-widebasis.Atleast thisisthecommonly-heldviewatthemoment.
AnythingAustralia-widehastobeagreedandcornmonedbetweeneachprovinceoftheHierarchyinAustralia.Untilrecently,atleast,therewasnosuchcommonplannoracommonagreementtoprofitfromthe exampleoftheU.K.andW.A.inthesematters.

Theirsisanarrangementofexpediencybasedonpoliticalconsiderationsandliabletoavolte-faceatthe twinkleofaneye.
WhatisflusteringtheSovietdovecotes(atleastas regardstheapproachingCommunistCongressforInternationCo-operationandDisarmament),istherash ofdefections-thenumberoffledglingswhoareleavingtheparentalnestbeforetheyhavecompletedthe Soviet'sfullflyingcourse.Whatissovexingisthat thesedownytypesarenotcrashingaccordingtoplan oranywaythearecrashingintothefieldsofthedovehunters.Inthisconnectiontherehasbeenemployed anovelandveryinterestingtechnique.Formerlythe Redshavegotawaywiththeirspuriousconference, buttressedbyparsons,professorsandothernotabilities. Knowledgeablepeopleregrettedthegullibilityofthe elitebutfeltnothingcouldbedoneaboutit.

Mr.DouglasHyde,whoknowstheCommunistmind aswellasanyoneintheWesterncamp,haspredicted thatthesuccessofRussia'sachievementwillbeenormous.Itseffecthascertainlynotbeenlostonthe Americans.ThePresidenthassternlycutthrough inter-servicerivaltytoplacerocketresearchincivilian hands.ButiftheCommunistsexpecttostampedethe Westintoapanicwhichwillresultinunconditional surrenderorevenwholesaleconcessionstheyhave sadlymisjudgedthetemperandmoralqualityofthe West.Itisamongthelesscivilisednationsthatthe superstitionofsciencemaylargelymakeitsimpact. ItwasthegreatfeastofChristtheKing,andnot toohot,justpleasantweather.TheO'Reillyfamily satinoneofthebuseswhichFatherMartinhadhired forhisparishionerstotakethemfromMarilupto AquinasCollege. Atfirstthe'buswentquicklydowntheroads,but aboutnearCanningbridgeitfounditselfinalong queueofotherbusesandcars.Itseemedasthough "alltheworldandhiswifeandchildren"weremakije theirwaytowardsAquinas.
Whentheyarrived,theyallwenttofindtheirown groupsinthefieldattheside,exceptMrs.O'Reilly andthetwolittleoneswhosatonthegrasswiththe spectators.
Shecouldn'tunderstandwhysomanypeoplewho couldeasilyhavemarcheddidn't.Shewouldhave lovedtogowiththeSt.Thomas'SacredHeart Sodality,butofcourseshehadtotakecareofEileen andJohn.
OneoftheoldergirlsofSt.Theresa'scarriedtheir banner,andthenalltheMarilupchildrenfollowed, girlsfirst,ofcourse,andthenboys.Sothetwins wereseparated.AttheendmarchedSisterImelda andtheothertwoMercySisters.
Theyalllinedupfacingthecentreofthelongaisle formedbytheChildrenofMary,downwhichHisGrace andthepriestswouldfollowChristintheMonstrance tothealtarattheend.
