GeorgeEggermann,representingtheI.F.C.T.U., praisedtheauthorsoftherecentlypublishedU.N. studyon"theFutureGrowthofWorldPopulation." Notingthatthestudyindicatedanunprecedented populationexpansion,especiallyinunder-developed areas,foratleast20years,hecommendedtheauthors forrefrainingfrom"drawingconclusionsaboutthe stepstobetaken."
Mr.Eggermanexpressedregret,however,over "certaincommentswhichseemtoreflectthepessimisticviewofthosewhoadvocatemeasurestohaltthe growthofpopulation."Hecontinued:
"TheInternationalFederationofChristianTrade Unionsisconvincedthatthesolutionofdemographic problemsliesprimarilyinadeterminedeffortat worldco-operationwithaviewtoimprovingliving conditionsintheworld'sunder-developedareas.
