DeLaSalleCollege,MidlandJunction,fieldeda teamatthelastmomentin theSchoolsBoys'Soccer Competition,JuniorGrade, heldatBayswateronFriday,August22,1958,and wontheSchools'Trophy presentedbytheWestern AustralianSoccerFootball Association.

Someoftheboyswere playingtogetherforthefirst time,andwonfourgames toreceivethetrophy.Most oftheladsresideatBassendeanandarecoachedby VincentPace.

Inyearspastagreatdeal oftheadvertisinginCatholicjournalswasfromCatholicbusinesspeopleandnot infrequentlywas given moreinaspiritofsympathy

Happilythosedayshave fledandtodaytheCatholic Presssolicitsadvertisingon itsmerits.Thatistosay thequalityofourPressis suchastobeanattractive mediumtobusinessfirmson thebasisofitsintrinsicinterestandwidecirculation. Aglancethroughour columnswillrevealthat thegreaterpartoftheadvertisingmatterisfrom firmswhicharenotCatholic.

Theyadvertisewithus becausetheyrecognisethe Catholiccommunityasa substantialminority in societyandalsobecause theygetreturns.

Wehavejustconcluded CatholicPressMonthandas aresulthaveshownanincreaseinthenumberof readers.

Inadditionweareplanningtoobtainanew,modernpresswhichwillenable ustocopewithananticipatedgreaterdemandfor largercirculation,increasedsizeandnewfeatures.

Handinglovewiththese advanceswillgothevolume ofadvertising.Thetwinaspectsofnewspaperproduction-advertisingandcirculation-arecomplementary.Theymutuallysupport oneanother.

Belgium'sKingBaudouin andhisbrothers,thePrinces AlbertandAlexandreand numerousotherdignitaries wereamongthe70,000personswhoattendedthe.PontificalMassofferedbyCardinalSiriandheardthe Pope'smessageintheHeyselsportsstadiumadjoining thefairgrounds.

Severalofthepriestsandsisterswereexpelled toHongKongin1951.EventuallyalltheAmericans atWuchow,includingtheBishop,were"condemned tobanishmentfromChina"-ontrumped-upcharges.

TheBishopwasexpelledtoHongKonginJune, 1955.Afterrecoveringhishealth,hebeganwork againasamissionaryinaruraldistrictinFormosa.
