Theboyscouldnotjoininthe-eligiousservicesoftheirfellow cubsandscouts.Thetendencywasforthemnottojoinany groupatall.ACatholicclosedgroupremediesthis.
atSt.Brigid'sparish,West Perth.TheRev.F.Dillon wasnominatedasthegroup chaplainandforawhile actedasthegroupscoutmaster.Mr.F.Chilco,a scoutofmanyyearsstandinginEuropewasthescoutmaster.

Aftermanyupsand downsthegroup,which startedoffwith10boys, hasgrownintoasolidgroup undertheablescoutmastershipofMr.HubertCreemers,whosewife,Gertrude isalsotheladycubmaster.
Graduallythenewsgot aroundandmanyapplicationswerereceivedfrom boysofotherparishes.The difficultywas,andstillis, thefindingofCatholicswho hadbeenscoutsorscoutmasterstoholdawarrant asascoutmasterforanew group.
EventuallytofosterscoutingamongstCatholicsa meetingwasheldofinterestedmenandafew function§wereruntoassist thefinancesofthisventure. Thisgroupofmencontinue toholdthemoneyraised fortheorganisation,asitis nowoperating,touse.
Followingontheleadof WestPerth,Scarborough startedatroop,thenacub pack.Thisisbeinglooked afterbyMr.NickGradison, withhisassistantsandan interestedgroupcommittee,whichisessentialto anyscoutgroup.

Withtheformationof thisgroup,theveryessentialfriendlyrivalrybetween thegroupssprangintobeing,notonlywithvisits,but withcompetition.St.John Boscoisthepatronsaintof theScarboroughgroup.
Thisgroupisthelastone tobeformedsofar,itwas startedoffbyFatherRyan, O.M.I.andhehasbeenits chaplaineversince.
Atthelastmeetingofthe Scouters'Council,Fremantle hadshownthatbothits groupshaddoubledtheir numberofexperienced Scouters.

Whenpeopleheardofthe intellectualapostolate,they begantoaskthemseves ratheraboutmindsintwo directions.Theywondered aboutthemindsoftheir friendsbutwhatwasworse theywonderedabouttheir own.
Manypeoplesaidfrom timetotime:"Iamnotthe leastbitintellectual,"or"I haven'tgotamind."They mightaswellsay,"Ihaven't gotasoul,"themindbeing oneofthefacultiesofthe soul-thepowertothink.
Inthecatechismthey learnttheymustknow,love andserveGod,andhow theycoulddothatwithout usingtheirminds,itwas impossibletosay.
Althoughtheyhadminds, theycouldletthemdieof neglect.Iftheydidnot feedandexercisethebody itwoulddie.Foodand exercisewerenecessaryfor thebodyandtheywere everybitasnecessaryfor themind.
