InthecourseofhisremarkssaidHisGrace,the Rectorhadmentionedthat theChurchwasproudto havehadsomuchtodo withtheoriginanddevelopmentoftheUniversity.

Thatstatementheheartily endorsed,andthatCollege couldbetakenasatokenof thehighregardwhichthe Catholiccommunity of WesternAustraliahadfor theirUniversity.Thatwas theircontribution-and theywerehappyand honouredtomakeit.-to theUniversity.

HisGracesaidthathe tookadvantageoftheopportunityofthankingmost cordiallyallwhohadhelpedinthataccomplishment -theUniversity,forits helpfulness,encouragement andsympathyfromtheoutset,andaboveallforits generosityformakingthe valuableparceloffiveacres availabletothemgratis.

Itwasthefunctionofa Universitytooffernotmerelyatechnicaltrainingbut afullandtrueeducation befittingafreemanandthe citizenofafreecountry. Here,too,theCollegemade agreatcontributiontothe University.

AUniversitystudent shouldknowhowtolive andtheColleges,which wereinthemainreligious foundations,didtheirstudentswithareligiousfaith whichgavestabilitytotheir lives.

Joseph,oneoftheslaves, liftedAntoniustohisshoulderoutofharm'sway.He couldseeovertheheadsof themoband,intheirmidst amanwhosefacewas coveredwithbloodfroma thornycrown,beingpushed andshovedalong.

Themanliftedhisface andAntonius'heartleapt. Itwashisfriendfromthe hill.Hewasonfirewith indignation.Ifonlybecould walktohelphisfrend,but hslegswereuseless.WithoutJoseph'shelphecould notevenstand.

So,grief-stricken,Antonit'swatchedashisbelovedfriendwasnailedto thecrossandraisedinthe airbeforehim.

Whenitwasover,a soldierpiercedJesus'side tobesureHewasdead. Antoniusburstintotears. Abeautifulladywhohad beenstandingbeneaththe crosspassedAntonius.
