Thebuildingwouldalso. beusedasarecreational centreandpossiblyinthe futureasaschool.
HisLordshipspokeof thehardlabourcarriedout byFr.Maslovarduringthe constructionofthebuilding andhopedthepeoplewould continuetogivetheirsupport.

Oncethepeoplestarted toarriveitmadeacolourfulandlivelyscene.Equally busysellingalovelyarray offancygoods,pictures, jams,vegetables,fruitand cooldrinksweretheladies inchargeofthevarious stalls,andifanyonehadany doubtsastotheabilityof the1957ladiestoholdtheir ownatcookingwiththeir mothers,onelookatthe cakestallwouldhaveput thesedoubtsaside. OnSunday,theclosing dayofthemission,13little childrenmadetheirfirst HolyCommunion.Resplendentlycladintheirfirst HolyCommunionclothes, thehappylittleboysand girlsenteredthechurchin procession.
Theparishpriestthenreceivedtherenewaloftheir Baptismalvows,inwhich theywerejoinedbythe wholecongregation.
ThenFr.O'Reganspoke tothechildrenonHoly Communion,andmadea stirringpleatotheir parentstogivetheirinnocentlittleonesnothingbut theverybestofgood example.
Massfollowed,during whicharecordnumberreceivedHolyCommunion. ThemissionendedsolemnlyonSundaynightwitha torchlightprocession,ledby thefirstHolyCommunicants,totheshrineofOur LadyofSchoenstattinthe conventgrounds.

FromthemomentIpassedthroughthemaingates bearinganinscription"St. Vincent'sFoundlingHome," anduntil5.15p.m.,Ihad livedinanatmosphereof peace,love,innocence, tranquillityandbeauty.
Sometimesthewordorphanagecanconveyanimpressionofreferringto somesombreinstitution whereanumberofunfortunatechildrenaregathered togetherforobviousreasons;atSt.Joseph'sthere appearstobeonlyonereasonandthatis"Love."

Somewherebackinancienthistorythereisasayingthat"Theverystones ofRomehaveears."The magnificentSistersatSt. Joseph'shaveevensurpassedthat,aseverystone orbricksurroundingthe manyminiaturegardens areofadifferentcolour anddesign.
Unfortunatelyspaceand abilitydonotpermitmeto conveytoourmanyCatholic friends(whohavenothad theopportunityorperhaps inclinationtovisitSt. Joseph's)inrespecttothe manyandvarieditemsof interestandbeautythat existsinthisgloriousand peacefulinstitution.
