Thepresidentofthe Aquinasjuniorcouncilmade thereportsfromthevarious presidents.Hementioned thevarioushospitalsthey hadbeenvisitingandalso thevariouscharitableinstitutionstheyhadbeen helping.

Theconferencewasheld fromSept.25-30atArmidale,N.S.W.,andFather Depiazzisaidthehospitality ofthepeopletherewasremarkable.

ArchbishopMannixvisitedtheconferenceanddeploredtheprevalenceof beautycontests.HisGrace askedthegirlstodowhat theycouldtodiscourage suchexhibitions,especially amongtheirownacquaintances.

Hequotedthevaliant womanoftheBookofProverbs,whohadallthefemininequalities,butbeautywasnotmentioned.

BishopGoody,inhisaddress,sakithegirlsneeded toacquireaconvictionof theimportanceoftheir work.Theywereapostles who,bythegraceofGod, musttrytoinfluencethe surroundingsinwhichtheylived,workedandplayed.

Thisis,unfortunately,a paganage,andveryfew booksarewrittenfroma Catholicpointofviewor withaCatholicdelicacy.If oneisgoingtodoanyreadingatall,thesupplycf bookswithaChristian moraltonewillsoonbeexhausted.

PeopleoftheCanary Islands,intheAtlantic Oceanoffthecoastof Africa,didnothearabout thebirthofChristuntil manyhundredsofyears hadpassed.

WhentheEuropeannations,ledbySpainandPortugal,begantosendout shipstoexploretheworld beyondtheoceans,afew shipstouchedonthese islands.

FatherBorynski'sdisappearancehasneverbeen solved,andthedeathof FatherMartynellishas raisedthequestionwhether hisdemisewillmakea solutionmoredifficult.

OntheafternoonofJuly 13,1953,FatherBorynski visitedFatherMartynellis, hispredecessoraspastorof thisindustrialtown'slarge communityofPolish refugees.

Afewhourslater,ashe satinhispresbytery,Father Borynskireceivedtwomysteriousphonecalls.One purportedtobefromapersonspeakingonbehalfof FatherMartynellis.

FatherBorynskiputon hishatandwalkedout, nevertobeseenagain.

AmonthlaterFather Martynelliswasfoundina stateofcollapseontheflool ofhisroom.Onthedesk, speltoutinmatchsticks, layawarninginPolish,"Be silent,priest."

Onrecovery,hewashazy abouttheincident.Heexplainedhehadreturned fromvisitingahospitalina highlynervousframeof mind.Hewasnotsure whetherhehadbeenattackedbytwomenorwhether hehadimaginedit.He couldnotexplainthewarningofthematches.
