CaseAgainstFluoride
Sir,-"PauloffOdonnellevhski"inyourissueof Sept.30isquitecorrectin statingthattheexcessive useofrefinedsugarharms teeth;butheisquitewrong inreferringtocompulsory experimentalwaterfluoridationasbeing'related'to sugarrestriction.
That"P.O."giveshis childrendosesofsodium fluoride(whichisatoxic chemicalusedinratpoisons andinsecticides)isbad enough;buthiswishingto forceeveryoneelseandtheir childrentodrinkthisdangeroussubstanceisindefensible.
"P.O."overlooksthatthe sugarcapitalistsmerelyadvertisetheirwaresanddo notcompelpeopletobuy. "P.0."admitsthathis childrenareindolentand willnotcuthislawns, but heclaimsthatthesodium fluoridehasnotaffected themmentally.
However,amongotherexpertsonthisandother pointsIquoteDr.Charles A.Brusch,directorofthe MedicalCentre,Cambridge, Massachusetts,'U.S.A.,as printedinBostonTraveller, 2ndJanuary1953:"Dr.Bruschlistedsome ofthefollowingharmful toxiceffectsoffluoride:
1.Damagetothebrain andnervecells.
2.Harmtothereproductiveorgans,withtheresultantloweringofthebirth rate.
3.Affectthethyroidgland anddamagetheliver.
4.Createahighincidence ofbonefractures."
