Thejubileecelebrations commencedinSt.Mary's ChurchonSundaywhen HisLordship,BishopB. StewartcelebratedtheparochialMassatwhichthere wasageneralHolyCommunionfortheintentionsof theJubilarian.
Therewasafullchoir underthedirectionofMrs. B.Westonandthecongregationwasaverylargeone.
Dr.Stewartpreachedthe occasionalsermonduring whichhepaidglowingtributetotheworkcarriedout constantlyformorethan23 _yearsbytheparishpriest ofCarnarvon,theVenerableArchdeaconMcKay.

Intheafternoon,His Lordship,who,incidently, wasafellowstudentwith thejubilarianinRome25 yearsago,blessedanddedicatedfourcommemorative stainedglasswindows whichdepictinbriefthe storyofthepriesthood.
BishopStewarttracedthe historyoftheCatholic priesthoodandexpressed admirationofthebeautiful windows.Therewasalarge ',crowdagaininattendance andSt.Mary'schoironce moresanglovelyappropriatehymns.

Therewasarepresentative gatheringofcitizensata civicfunctionarrangedby theCarnarvonMunicipal Counciltowelcomethefour visitingbishopsandclergy onMondayevening.
Thepartywasalsoa complimentaryonetoconaaatulateArchdeaconMcKayontheattainMentof hissilverjubileeofpriesthood.Thecouncilweresupportedbythechairmanand secretaryoftheGascoyneMinilyaRoadBoard,Mr.K. IllingworthandMr.I.G.L. Watkinsrespectively.
TheActingMayor(CouncillorMarsh)welcomedthe prelatesandclergyandsaid itwasanhistoricoccasion forneverbefore,hethought, weretherefourbishopsin Carnarvontogetherandso manyclergyattheonetime.
Itwasahightributeto ArchdeaconMcKay,hesaid, +thatsuchadistinguished gatheringhadcomefrom manypartsofAustraliato dohimhonour.
Theirparishpriestwas heldinhighregardand whilehehadalwaysplaced hisspiritualdutiesashis Arstconcernhehadtaken partinmanymovements overtheyearsinthewelfareandadvancementof thetownanddistrict.

BishopGoody,continuing, saidthatthroughtheofferingofMasstheperpetuationofCalvary,withthe wholeoftheRedemption wasmadeavailabletothe parishionersofCarnarvon.
Objectively,theMasswas
thechiefreasonofthe priest'sexistence;though, infact,thepriestwaspresentatallstagesinthelives ofhispeople,fromthe cradletathegrave.Allof thesethingsexistedthat menmightbeabletoreceivetheBreadofLife.
Inothersacredritesthe presenceofthepriest, thoughordinarilyrequired, wasnotabsolutelynecessary,butitwasessentialfor theMassandtheEucharist.
HisLordshipconcluded bysayingthatallthosepre-sent,Bishops,priests,religious, withandfaithful,joined thejubilarianinthankingGodforallthegracesandblessingsreceivedduringthepasttwenty-five years;thatofFatherMcKay itcouldbesaid:"Welldone, thougoodandfaithfulservant"

Activemembersattenda weeklymeetinganddo abouttwohourswork weekly(minimum).Itis surprisinghowcheerfully devotiontoOurBlessed Ladyinspiresthemtolook onthisasajoynottobe missed,andnotasasacrifice.
Theweeklymeetingis generallyheldintheevening,butwhereitisnotpossibletohaveanevening meeting,Comitiummay sanctionday-timemeetings. Mostpraesidiareportvacanciesforlegionariesover 18yearsofage.
Auxiliarymembership consistsofthosewhoare unableorunwillingtoassumethedutiesofactive membership,butwhoundertaketogivethelegion thepricelessbackingof theirprayers.
Thesedailyprayersare containedinaleafletobtainablefromanypraesidium;theyincludetheRosary.Theleafletiscalled theTessera.
Fromtimetotimeactive legionarieshavebeenforcedbysomereasonoranother,ill-health,stressof business,familycares,and soon,torelinquishmembership.Ineachandevery casethelosstothepraesidiumhasbeengreat,and deeplyregrettedbyallconcerned.Perhapssomeof thisgallantbandarenow

Allthoseattendantdisciplinesandrestraintsof religiondisappearalong'withit.Familylifeisbroken up;inplaceofparental trainingissubstitutedState controlofallchildrenold enoughtoleavetheirparents,inordertoreceive theblessingsofagodless education.
Aboveallhowever,inthe wholefieldofhumanactivityitmustbenotedthat theeconomicfactorissup- reme;aboutit,allactivitymustrevolve.State ownershipofallthemeans ofproductionisdemanded bycommunists,andalsothat ofcontrolanddistribution ofgoods.Inordertoeffect thismoresecurelyaclasslesssocietyisadvocated, broughtaboutbyclasswarfareinthepresentestab-lishedorder.

Capitalism,initself,as aneconomicsystemislawful,basedasitisonthe fundamentalrighttopossessprivateproperty.ModernCapitalismhoweveris theabuseofcapitalism,and isthereforeseverelycondemnedbytheChurch.
Itisbasedonthefalse conceptofownership:it ignorestheChristianteachingthatownershipisastewardshiptobeexercisedaccordingtothelawsofjus- ticeandcharity,andwith dueregardstotheneedsand rightsofothers.Ithasa socialaswellasanindivi dualaspect.
