Itispossibletoadmitthe existenceofpracticalatheists,thatis,menwho knowingtheexistenceof God,liveasiftherewereno God.Itisimpossibletoadmittheexistenceofnegative atheists,thatis,men,who endowedwithperfectuse ofreason,havenoideaof God,notevenaprimitive andconfusedidea,butwho invinciblyandinculpably areignorantofHisexistence.

Facedwiththenecessity ofbuildingamassfollowing fortheParty,ComradeDimitrovurgedthebuilding ofaunitedfrontofthe workingclassandabroad "People'sFront,"bothcontrolledbytheCommunist Party.
Dimitrovclearlyexplained thepurposeoftheunited front:
"Wewanttodrawincreasinglywidemassesintothe revolutionaryclassstruggle andleadthemtotheprole- tarianrevolution,proceedingfromtheirvitalinterests andneedsasthestarting" point,andtheirownexperienceasthebasis."(Proceedings,p.192).

Amongstthedecisionsof theCongress,weread:

Theideaofturning"imperialist"warintocivilwar for"peace"wasrecently re-echoedbyPietroNenni, leaderoftheLeftWing SocialistFrontinItaly.In aspeechatVerona,reportedintheCommunist"Tribune"(3June1950),Nenni declared:

Forthemajorityofthem, too,Ithink,thetitleconstitutesadifficulty.How manyofthemlookuponthe faithwhichtheEnglish royallineprofessesasrepresentingexactlytheir ownreligiousbeliefs?Not soverymany,whenallis saidanddone.Sothequestionrecurs:"Defenderof whoseFaith?".Notthefaith ofCatholics,notthefaith ofthenon-Conformistsects, notthefaithofJews,not thefaithofthoselargenumberswhohaPenosettledreligiousconvictionsatall.
Itfollowsthatthetitle canonlyrefertothefaith oftheChurchofEngland. ButtheChurchofEngland is,inAustralia,notan establishedChurch.Nordo thenumbersofitsadherents,nominalorreal,put itinanypositiontocall thetune,inreligiousmatters,tothewholecountry.
