AfterBenedictionofthe BlessedSacrament,which wasgivenintheconvent ehapel,HisLordshipreturnedtotheJuniorateandaddressedthepeoplefromthe balcony.Ontheplatform 'besidetheBishopwerethe Rev.G.O'Callaghan,parish priestofEastFremantle; theRev.T.W.Purcell, O.M.I.,andtheV.Rev.F.E. Hope,Adm.Alsopresent weretheRev.J.Hawkins, 1.J.,theRev.H.Kearin andtheRev.H.Kelly.
AfterFatherO'Callaghan ladintroducedhim,His Lordship,inaneloquent addressoutlinedbrieflythe purposeandnecessityofa Juniorate.TheJuniorate,he id,wasaspecialsortof hoolforyoungpeople whobelievedtheyhada vocationtothereligiouslife. Itdidnotimposeanyobligationnordiditcallfora verygreatdecision.Itwas merelyahelptothedevelopmentandstrengthening vetgracesalreadyreceived.

RecentlyinthechapeloftheSistersof St.Joseph'sconvent,SouthPerth,aMiss* CantatawascelebratedatwhichHisGrace theArchbishoppresided.Theceremony wastogivethankstoGodforthegolden _jubileeofreligiousprofessionofSisterM. Monica,awell-knownmemberoftheSistersofSt.JosephoftheSacredHeart. Thecelebrantwasthe Rt.Rev.Mgr,J.T.McMahonassistedbytheRev. W.Buckley.
Acombinedchoirofthe Sistersandschoolchildren receivedtheapprobationof allbytheirrenderingof theGregorianchantandthe appropriate,"VeniSponsa Christi".
Inconclusion,heurged hislistenerstomakeanallotmentwhereneither thievesnortax-collectors couldbreakthroughand steal,sothatwhentheyears hadpassedandtheyhad gonewheretheirtreasure was,theywouldbeableto lookdownandsee,shining inthedarkness,thelittle lightsthatthey,bytheirgenerosity,hadsetonfire.

HisLordshipthenrecalledthestoryoftheapparitiontoSt.CatherineLaboure,whenthesaint,noticingtherayscomingfrom OurLady'sjewelledhands, askedwhysomegemsgave forthnorays.OurLady repliedthatthosejewelsrepresentedthegracesfor whichnoonehadbothered ioask.Thepresentwork requiredmanygracesand itwasapityiftheywere notbestowedbecauseno onebotheredtoaskfor them.

Somuchdependedonthe *8uccessoftheJuniorate,for fromitwouldcomethe novicesandSistersoftomorrow,Sisterswhowould teachintheschools,not onlyintheWestbutallover Australia.Thefutureofthe Junioratewasmuchmore importantthanmanypeo-tierealised,aswithitwas boundupthecontinuanceof oneofthemostsuccessful, mostwidespreadandmost self-sacrificingoftheteachingOrdersoftheArchdiocese. HisLordshipthencongra-VotedReverendMother Provincialandallthesuperiorsontheirforesight, courageandconfidencein God'sProvidenceinundertakingthatworkwhich mustnecessarilyinvolvea heavyburdenofdebt.

Perhapsthegreatest achievementofthelate FatherT.RobinsonC.Ss.R., inamaterialsense,wasthe buildingofSt.Mary's church,Kalgoorlie.Atthe timeofitsdedicationbythe lateBishopGibney,Nov. 22,1903,itwasthemost commodiousandbestappointedchurchoutsidethe metropolis.
OnthatoccasionBishop Gibneyexpressedhisdeep appreciationbyconferring uponFatherRobinsonthe titleofCanon.CanonRobinsonsaidthattheday wastheproudestofhis life.Thehonourthathad justbeenconferredonhim bytheBishop,was,hesaid, unexpectedandundeserved. Henowsawaccomplished, lems,S.C.A.,becamerector;mainlythroughthegoodseasonsimprovedandalsowillandgenerosityofthe thepriceforwheat.Thefol-peopleofKalgoorlie,his lowingyearthebrickmoddesirefortheerectionofa nasterywasbuilt.In1944magnificentchurchin FatherAlbertlefttobegintheirmidst.Hehadfound theMissionatWanderingitapleasuretowork Brook, amongthepeopleofKalgoorlie,andtothem,and nottohimself,wasduethe creditofhavingthenew St.Mary'sbuilt.
Anewerabeganwiththe Rev.GeorgeVill,S.C.A.He managedtobuymanyof theAirForcehutsfromGeraldton,largelyduetothe greatgenerosityofthe CatholicsofVictoria.These weredismantledandreerectedatthefarmwith theideaofbeginninga schoolfornativechildren.

Itispopularly,butillogically,believedthatabad manmaybeagoodpolitician.Andinpracticethe votingofthepartyticket hasassumedgreaterimportancethanthepersonal charactersofpoliticalas-
pirants. Thisisamatterthat deservesattention,because theactivitiesoftheNationalSafetyCouncilsinvolve arespectableexpenditure ofpublicmoneysandthe publicareentitledtosee somevaluefortheirmoney.
Whatseemschieflywrong withthetypeofpublicity employedinthatitisa mixtureofthehorrificand theunsound.Therecitalof thenumberskilledor maimedwillhavenomore effectonthepreyentionof accidentsthanthegrosser figuresofcasualtieshaveon thepreventionofwar.The truthisthatthehuman emotionscanonlyacceptso muchoftheinsufferable.
