KISSING.
Withregardtokissing goodnighthesaidthatmoderationwashighlynecessary.Kissingwasasignof veryspecialfriendship.If therewasthatsortofsalutation,hesaid,letitbe onlyasalutation.Inreply toaquestiononpassionate kissingDoctorsaidthatthe Church'srulinghaddefinitelybeenlaiddown.He saidthatitwasnotlicitto anyoneexcepttomanand wife.Notevenengaged couplescoulduseitlawfully.
Theconclusionsondecorumwerequitecorrect. Regardingdress,hesaid. theywerelivinginavulgar age.Itwasprobablyno worsethaninformertimes exceptthatadvertisinghad becomevulgar.Doctorsaid thatthecoarseexploitation ofthefemaleformwas boundtohavesomeeffect oneverybody.

Inthesanctuarythatmorningwasthesuccessorto BishopBrady,HisGrace ArchbishopPrendiville.His Gracehasachievedwhat BishopBradycouldnever havevisualized,namelyto haveachurchandschool whereveragroupofCatholicshavesettled.Themushroomgrowthofchurches, schoolsandinstitutions wouldbeanenduringmonumenttohisGrace'sadministration. TheyprayedtoAlmighty Godthatthepilgrimswould havepeaceintheirHearts, namely,thattheywouldbe friendsofAlmightyGod, thattheirconscienceswould besuchparticularlyduring thepilgrimage.It,therefore,restedwiththemselves. Nodoubttheyhadheard beforethattheywere,shall wesay,pilgrims-de-luxe, continuedtheBishop.Nowdayspilgrimswentinfirstclassliners,first-class trains;manywentbyfoot inthepast,butmodern meansoftravelwerepart ofGod'swillforthem;the pilgrimagewasnotmerely avoyageofgaping,sightseeingtourists.Theywould beallthetimeChristian people,indeedappreciating theamusementsitwouldbe theirpleasuretovisitinEurope;butatthesametime rememberingthattheyhad topraytoGodtohavepeace andcontentmentorsatisfactioninthepilgrimagethey wereabouttomake.
