Asreportedherethe draftlawisrepetitionof theprinciplesforaChurchstateagreementenunciated lastDecemberbytheYugoslavForeignMinister EdwardKardelj.
Thedraftlawrepeatsthe assertionintheYugoslav constitutionthatthereis "fullfreedomofworship andconscience."According totheofficialYugoslav press,thelawcontains31 sectionsandwillestablish "concrete"relationsbetween theChurchandstate.
Thelawmakesitclear thatinYugoslaviathestate andnottheChurchisthe competentauthorityinmarriagematters.Itdeclares thatonlyacivilmarriage isconsideredlegallyvalid, thoughitpermitsa"supplemental"religiousceremony.
Thelawbanswhatit describesas"theuseofreligionforpoliticalpurposes."
Itwarnsthatthechurch pressmaynotseektoinfluencethepoliticalleanings ofthefaithful.
