Thoseangelsweremerelyconversing.Nowit wouldbeexceedinglydiscourteoustohavearchangelsshoutingouttoone anotheracross"thelong savannahsoftheblue,"especiallywiththeDoctorsof theChurchlisteningwith cockedears.Butonecould getawaywithalotofearbashing(inadignifiedway) permediumofasilver trumpet.

Raphaelbrokeinbefore theingenuityofGabriel couldcompletealogicalinevitability."Iratherthink," hesaid,meditatively,"that thisyear'sfestivitieshave somespecialcircumstances weshouldconsidermore closely.Foronething,the feastwillbeheldthisyear tocoincidewiththeKalgoorliejubilee,andthe neighbouringchurchin BoulderisdedicatedtoAll Hallows.

Twoboys,membersofa LegionofMaryjuniorpraesidiuminthisState,gave proofoftheirtrainingwhen attendingaC.M.F.Cadet Militarycamp.Theygatheredtogetherothercadetsin thecampandorganisedtwo Rosarygroups.Onegroup said50Rosaries;theother 49Rosaries.

Thentherewasthecase reportedbyaformerparish priestofNorseman.Hewas impressedbyayoungminer whoregularlysaidadecade oftheRosarywhenhefinishedhismiddaycrib.He saidheformedthehabit yearsbeforewhenhehad beenajuniorlegionaryin Kalgoorlie.

THENON-CATHOLIC.

Perhapsthemostsatisfyingworkthatlegionaries aredoinginPerthistheapproachtothosenotofthe Faith.Onegroup,under thedirectionoftheRev.J. Depiazzi,isengagedexclusivelyonthatwork.The workhastwoaspects:firstly,thefindingofpeoplewho arewillingandsometimes eagertotakethestepstowardsembracingCatholicism,and,secondly,thearrangingfortheirinstruction andencouragement.Many Catholics,notlegionaries, couldshareinthisbyspeakingwith non-Catholic friendsabouttheFaithand mentioningtheirnamesto FatherDepiazzioranylegionarytheyknow.

Itisnowovertwoyears sincethefirstcourseofinstructionbegan.Thepeoplewhoattendedthenhave nowaknowledgeofCatholicismtheyhadnotbefore.

Despiteprotestsraised bythefamily,Charles wassecretlyordainedpriest in1563andin1563hewas 'consecratedBishop.He receivedthePalliumin 1564. HisarrivalinMilanwas theoccasionofgreatrejoicings,andthepeopledid theirutmosttowelcome thefirstresidentArchbishop for80years.Heimmediately setaboutreforminghis archdioceseand,although hemetoftenwithgreatopposition,hiszealandvigour madehimvictoriousinthe end.

WhentheArchbishophad nomoney,hesoldthefamilyplate.Hedistributed hisownclothesamongthe poorandhadmoremade forthemfromthetapestries offhiswalls.Hesetin
