In1886,shewasmarried atBusseltonbythelate MonsignorBurketoThomas LittleHastie,eldestsonof thewell-knowncontractor, CharlesLittleHastie(some ofwhoseworkstillstands to-dayintheBunburyand Busseltonareas).

Aftertheirmarriage,Mr. andMrs.Hastiesettledin Bunbury,wheretheirfamilyofsixdaughtersand threesonswereallborn. Exceptforthedeathofone sonininfancy,thefamily circleremainedunbroken untileightyearsago,when bothMr.Hastieandoneof thedaughters(Mrs.Mary Yardley)diedwithinthe shortspaceofthreemonths.

Ayearorsolater,another daughter,Mrs.J.O'Donnell, diedinSydney.Mrs.Hastie wasalsograndmotherof20 andthegreat-grandmother of30.

Addedtotheselosses, Mrs.Hastiewascalledonto enduremuchphysicalsuffering,followingamajor operation,asaresultof whichshehadbeenpartiallyinvalidedforthepast27 years:butsheboreher trialwiththegreatestpatience.

and5months. alwaysbeenanardent churchworker,andcould tellmanystoriesoftheearly strugglesofpriests,nuns, andparishionerstoestablishthechurch,conventand schoolinBunbury.

Upuntilabout18months beforeherdeath,shemanagedtohearHolyMassalmosteverySunday.She wasaferventmemberof theSacredHeartsodality sinceitsinceptioninBunbury,andreceivedHoly CommunioneveryfirstFridayalmostuptothetime ofherdeath.

RequiemMassforthereposeofhersoulwascelebratedinSt.Patrick's church,Bunbury,onSaturday,August16,bytheV. Rev.DeanJ.Wallace,after whichtheremainswere conveyedtotheBunbury cemetery,wherethelast riteswereperformedby DeanWallace,assistedby theRev.E.Kennyandthe Rev.J.Mullins.

BishopGoodyexpressed hispleasurewiththegrowth oftheparish,andsaidhe wasgratifiedtoseeitflourishing.Hepaidtributeto FatherBrennanwho,he said,hadwiththecompletionoftheschoolandpres- byteryatlastseentheculminationofhishopes.Dr. Goodyremindedtheassemblythattherewasstillinsufficientspace,andearly extensiontotheschool buildingwascontemplated, butheknewthatthepar-ishionerswoulodfacethat newtaskwillinglyandsuccessfully.Hethankedparishionerswouldfacethat otherdistrictsforattending theceremony,especiallyMr. Thomson,whohadtravelled fromAlbany. Anappealwasmadeby theRev.FatherMiddleton, C.Ss.R.,formorefunds,to whichheaddedhisthanks toCatholicsandnon-Catholicsalikefortheirprevious generousresponse.Atotal of£1,500wasreceived, whichwillbeacknowledgedlaterinthesecolumns.
